finasteride is i think around 70% inhibition of type 2 and dutasteride is ~90% type 2 and some other amount of type 1 which doesn't effect male pattern baldness, unless i'm wrong on those #'s. dutasteride is definitely higher

You're definitly off on those numbers! Finasteride at 5 mg/day inhibits the type 2 enzyme by an average of about 90%, 1 mg/day a bit less...I'm guessing around 85% to 90% or so.
Dutasteride at the standard dose of 0.5 mg/day inhibits the type 2 enzyme by around 98% to 99%, and the type 1 enzyme by maybe half or so...
What else is it needed for? All Hairloss Drs on their blogs appear to claim that Propecia is only blocking something that isn't needed anymore by the body
