Signs To Be Worried About On Finasteride

I may in the coming year decide to get on finasteride if my recession continues. Obviously i’m a bit worried about the side effects. It’s hard not to be considering what people write on this board and other boards. Currently I’m a perfectly healthy individual, physically, mentally (sexually) and the very small possibilitity that I may risk my health purely for cosmetic reasons taking this drug is sort of terrifying. I keep seeing an estimation about that only 1-2% have pfs, and obviously that’s reassuring. But I could very well be that one percenter, who knows?

Anyway. It seems fairly common that people have atleast some sort of side, such as slight sexual dysfunction initially in the first weeks or so when you’ve started taking the drug, or watery ejaculation, etc. But it seems to me that people seem to push through some side effects. At what point should one quit taking finasteride to not risk pfs? What sides should you be worried about? At what point? Do people take one pill and end up with permanent impairments? Are there certain characteristics that may mean that you may be predisposed to pfs? If you start experiencing sides, do you quit cold turkey, or do you slowly start to decrease your intake daily until it’s nothing?

Sorry. Maybe a lot of questions. Maybe even unanswerable questions. But I have to get a good understanding before taking the decision whether I’m gonna start taking it or not.

It is really rare to get pfs , you cant get a real estimation on the number but it isnt that high .noone can tell you if you ll get sides and if they ll disappear eventually , you would have to try it

From my understanding, it's 1-2% out of the people who get sides originally.

I’m curious about this as well. You see a lot of stories about people who had sides for a few weeks only to have them disappear an continue on without a problem.

Good point. Most people who have good experiences probably wouldnt be hanging around the boards as much
exactly... on the other hand, people who have side effects RUN here begging for help. Yea.. dont remember when was teh last time a new member came here like this: "Hey guys! check out these results!"

If your really serious about protecting yourself you should run a full panel of your hormones before you start therapy. This is something i wish i did, If something comes up down the road and you still don't feel better at least you have a baseline of data to work with. This way there's no "placebo effect" and you have hard data.
