Hi everyone. I have a simple stupid question about DHT.
How the hell can people maintain their hair using finast and have absolutely no sides with libido when finast blocks 80% of DHT? More DHT more erection and more hairloss? right? people claim that hairloss has stopped but erection is the same as it was before finasteride.
I think that if you don't have sides then u are not a good responder to finasteride, so i think it's impossible to maintain hair without sides.

explain somebody plz.
thx and sry for my eng. ))

Testosterone levels increase when you take Finasteride (and other 5ar inhibitors) by about 10%.

Have a look at this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14624915

Finasteride treatment led to a generally modest increase relative to placebo in serum testosterone, with the greatest increases occurring in men with low baseline testosterone levels.

This may explain why the majority of people can have normal sex while taking this drug. A lot of people report a heightened sex drive while on the drug.

most people can get away with lower DHT levels because their body is able to compensate for it somehow (What it means to have sides and for them to vanish).

But lowering your dht so dramatically isn't a good thing, trust me.

I don't get it. Some people say finasteride lowers testosterone and therefore there are those muscle atrophy and low libido side effects, but some say that it increases testosterone, because less of it turns into DHT and therefore due to the lack of DHT people have muscle atrophy and low libido. Anyone know the real answer? Looks like it's different for everybody.

This is what occurs in those "rare" subset of men that experience the Post-Propecia Syndrome, where Testosterone/LH/FSH levels drop within a few weeks of quitting the drug.

some say that it increases testosterone

While on the drug, Testosterone increases up to 20% because it cannot convert to DHT.

DHT is a vital male hormone. Take it away either while on or after quitting the drug (ie, low levels seen in Post Propecia Syndrome) and you will probably have problems.
