Simple Question About Watery Semen

Almost 8 months on finasteride, only side effect I am facing is watery semen. It is exactly as if I am ejaculating "water" (same color) with a little bit of immediate (but not permanent) stickiness.

My question: does this watery semen (as described above) ever contain sperm?

Hopefully it does. I can tell you one thing in my experience with Propecia is that it decreased my ejaculate level and made it watery. This condition has remained unchanged since I have been on it. I am wondering if anyone differs from my experience and has no change in his level or thickness.

Frankly, if I am ever planning to marry and conceive, it will be at least 6 to 8 years from now (I am 26) so I currently have no problem with this side effect.

3 things, however, I am marking for:

1. I read elsewhere here that such condition, after the 1st year mark, may resolve by itself since the prostate regrows, so I shall be monitoring...
2. If it doesn't resolve, I will decrease my dose to 0.5mg in a hope that my semen regains a bit of its consistency. I may had a positive effect when I did decrease my 1mg to 0.5mg when I first started finasteride as it solved my chest discomfort issues, so it may also work for this sexual side-effect...
3. In all cases, one can only hope that such side effect, if continued to be present for like 10 years while on finasteride, it is never permanent!

Thanks for your answer.

I'm having this issue as well, but I'm six months in and it slowly seems to be returning to normal. Wait it out and see. Maybe try zinc.

Sounds like a good idea, I always wanted to take some supplement that may, in addition to the big 3, do something for my hair (especially since I also suffer from what is known around here as retrograde alopecia; thin hair on the sides and behind the ears), so it may also help with this sexual side effect. Will probably take my decision on my 1st year mark to evaluate everything.

Is it easy to buy zinc and take it in a standard dosage? Or gotta check with a Doctor first?

Possibly. The prostate produces (some) of the fluid that makes your semen white/thick/sticky, so by taking Finasteride you will stop it functioning properly as it needs adequate DHT levels. I think the fluid is needed for the sperm to remain healthy, so without it the quality may decline.

the prostate actually produces the part of semen that is watery. so it's probably lack of seminal vesicle secretion.

I'm no biologist but I remember reading about pre-c*m, and how most guys stupidly think pre-c*m lacks any semen whatsoever, which is where the "pulling out" birth control myth comes from. But actually, pre-c*m can have less semen, or more, than normal thick semen, it's completely random.

So going just on that logic, if pre-c*m is watery looking the same way semen can be on finasteride, then I don't think it necessarily means a lower sperm count. I'm not sure what it does mean though, as in, if it's any different than before.
