Hey Guys,

As it says in the title, I've been struggling with male pattern baldness since around summer 14 and about this time last year it began to accelerate drastically and I currently stand at about a Norwood 3.5. About 6 months ago I noticed what appeared to be a small degree of facial hair loss, which up until today has continued and become noticeable. My gp typically dismissed it with the line "there's no effective treatment for that" so I was wondering if it's something anyone else has experienced? I'm highly doubtful it's alopecia barbae because the loss isn't patterned, it's a more a diffuse thinning. Some hairs have disappeared, some thinned out and some lost pigment. I can't help but feel it's somehow linked to the aggressiveness of my male pattern baldness. Would be great to hear a few replies!

Cheers

You say you are NW3.5 but your regimen section does not say on what treatment you are.

As for the beard, alopercia barbis is often a form of alopecia areata, which is very difficult to cure :-( so the derm might be right this time.

Thanks for replying. I'm not actually on a regimen as of yet, although I've just ordered some s5 cream to help with maintainence. Would it be of benefit to add RU on top of this do you think? In regards to the beard, if it's alopecia barbae then it is what it is but I really don't think it's that since hair tends to fall out in circular patterns in that disease. Can't help but be suspicious of some form of vitamin deficiency

S5 is good but before RU you may want to try finasteride and minoxidil.
