Hey guys, gonna try and keep it brief... one year into finasteride, three month gap, back on it for six months. Minoxidil for three years roughly. Other sh*t too but nothing worth mentioning... and that's where I'm at, six years in overall since I started to notice my hair loss and just did nothing for way too long. Not seeing a whole lot of improvement. Kinda thinking about jacking it in this year, I dunno? I hate my hair and its running my life! All this effort and for what? Don't think I'll ever be satisfied with it now. Anyway, take a look at this pictures and let me know what you think, is it time to let it go or what? First five are from roughly two years ago, second five are from roughly one year ago and the last eight are from yesterday. I know I'm no serial poster here or nothing, but I'm gonna make this thread my last. I check this site and others like it every day, its not healthy. I'm only making this thread now because I've nobody left in the real world to talk to about this stuff, they're all sick of hearing about it! Anyway, as always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

James.

I think you maintained? Anyway maybe a buzz cut can help hide the thinning

Meh... I dunno? I so wanted to have crazy good results like others have had. What kind of Norwood would you put me at just out of curiosity? I only ask cause I think I might have what everyone refers to as diffused thinning and that doesn't seem so easy to place on the scale?

I think too that you've maintained. Also, if you don't want a buzz cut, you can try backcombing (too much) to conceal the thinning and create volume.
You look like a Norwood 2.

Yes, I think you are diffused thinner but have like a norwood 2 hairline. As Ein said, just grow your hair a little and push it backward it will look good. Also if medications ain't giving you any side effects then what is the problem in continuing, as Mandar kumthekar lets hope for the best. In my opinion if you can comfortably carry what you have then you should enjoy having them while they last or if you are just too much insecure and uncomfortable then buzzing off will be better option as you still have pretty much full head of hair (though thin but still) and hairline is not receded much.

Thanks, but I don't think growing it will help... my hair is shoulder length as it is!! Ha ha! Think that's the problem, I've had long hair all my life and can't seem to let go? Vain really. I just put Toppik in it whenever I'm at work or doing something social and I guess it hides it okay? I just wanted that to be a phase and one day not need to use that sh*t. It's funny, it's like I think if I put my mind to it I can regrow my hair??? What a crack!

For instance, this is my hair right now, just finished work, ten hour day, working outside. I know it's fake, but I consider it fairly well hidden, I guess unless you know what you're looking for...?

Hi man,
I wouldn't give up just yet if I were you. As another poster said, at worst you've more or less maintained. Most people's success stories come from consistency. You said you've dropped finasteride a bit and then started again? Maybe just stick with big three for another year and see. What about adding in some extras? Derma-rolling has worked for people. Taking some Biotin. Some good shampoos? Maybe you've tried some of these?

Ha ha! I work outside bro! I look like Keith f*****g Richards!!! And I'm only 29!!! But seriously, it would be too hard to tell what has weathered my face, the minoxidil or the climate. Either way, I look old as f*** for my age!

Honestly looking again I think you had some regrowth. And ya no one will be able to tell

Yeh, maybe a little regrowth around the front, nothing too dramatic though. Thanks for your feedback pal.

Yeh, I take biotin, have done on and off for years. Used nizoral, alpecin, t-gel etc. I've thought about dermarolling, but it just seems like kind of a hassle and I'm not totally sure how often to do it etc. Kind of given up on little things like that if you know what I mean? I did 12 months of hair laser therapy and saw palmetto too... f*****g con!

Seriously though guys, thanks for the feedback. Just kind of feels good to talk (of a fashion) about it sometimes.

I think a lot of people were inspired by @Somebody 's thread. He derma-rolls every day. Maybe that's what you need to help the minoxidil absorb better. Not everything is gonna work for everyone I suppose. You owe it to yourself to give it everything for one more year. Go all out. Derma-roll, stick to the meds, lash on the shampoos etc. Everything you can. If after a year there's no change...maybe pack it in. As I said it does look like your hair hasn't worsened though.

Maybe you're right? I'll check out his thread. One problem that I have run into just recently is that I have started with dermatitis on my face (about six months now) and developed a very flakey scalp. I made the change from liquid minoxidil to the foam, very wearily of this shed I hear so much about. I'm about one month in to using the foam, thankfully the flakey scalp has calmed down, touch wood. But who knows about a this shedding business? It's pot luck I guess? Man, the foam is hard as balls to apply to long hair by the way. sh*t goes everywhere! Ha ha!
