Well, why not...

I rarely use the forum since I first opened my account years ago..sometime in 2007 when my hairloss was beginning to become more noticable. My Dr. agreed after looking at my hairline to write an Rx for Finasterid 5mg daily, with instructions to cut the tablet into fifths. I also started using rogaine foam at the same time and Nizoral shampoo maybe twice / three times a week. My doctor said at the time.."kid you really don't have that bad of a receeding hairline but if you're worried about it..,etc."

My hair initially shed quite a bit but regrew thicker and fuller...literally took years off my hairline. It's not perfectly full like it was in high school..but close enough that It doesn't seem noticable at all, especially due to the way I comb my hair. Its waaay better looking now at 31 than it was at 24. I'm happy, and use all three products religously.

My nizoral routine is only to use it maybe 2-3 times a week at the most,..letting it settle on the scalp a few minutes,..rinse, then wash a second time and rinse immediately.

Really? he has shared his experience, we should encourage others to do the same. Do you view negative posts about meds with the same scepticism?

Yes, and pictures are worth a thousand words. I'm not asking for identity revealing information, but before and after pics not only to see the difference, but by how much. It helps other members decide which methods are worth while, what is reasonable to expect, how long it should take, etc.

of course pictures are worth a thousand words, although they can easily be faked. I was simply meaning that to say his thread was worthless was a little harsh. He didnt have to post any thing at all but he did, this forum would be a much better place if more people contributed.

Great to hear this kind of stories!, I'm almost 22, started receding at 17, been on propecia since 3 years ago, minoxidil/nizoral almost 2 years, everything's looking great!, I wish I can come back in 8 years when I turn 30 and tell the same.

IMG_3242.jpg So, there is a shot of my dome. no combing over or concealing, although if I were to pull my hairline back on the temples you would obviously see I still have some receeding on the sides..nothing major like when I was 24 though. One side is a little more receeded than the other too, which is funny but only I can notice it. My hairline has looked like this since approximately 2008, I'd say approximately NW2-NW3. Hope the pic works, have never uploaded to this site before.
I also just recently died my hair with Just for Men to conceal some light grey sneaking in on the sides (I'm 31 after all)..didn't exactly get rid of my greys but it did cause my hair to thicken up noticably..which basically conceals the receeded areas even better. Next time i'll try a different shade of brown and report results.

Good luck and thanks for posting. What's your exact routine and would you change anything if you would have to go back? Have you considered adding anything to your routine going forward?

I probably wouldn't change my routine if I could go back 6 years, it worked pretty well and has been economical for me. I would, however, have started about 2-3 years earlier if I could change anything, meaning starting at age 21-23 instead of 25.
My routing is changing now to be more consistent though. I used to never let the nizoral set in very long in my hair,..and would sometimes go months without using it to be honest. Also, I have always cut finasteride 5mg tabs into fifths to equal 1mg daily. but because of breakage, I am going to start a better approach now. every other table will be cut into 4ths to make up for the breakage from the pills that are cut into 5ths. I will also use nizoral every 2-3 days and let it set in 10-15 minutes.
I am also switching to Target brand "Up & Up" %5 minoxidile foam to save money.
I am aware that the sky's the limit with additional products, but I am reluctant to spend any more money at this point unless I continue to loose hair in the next 1-2 years despite my new regimine tweak. Its great to be able to move on with my life after worrying about hair so much in my early 20s.

I would post pics of my hairline from 2006 just before i went on my treatment, but those were the days before camera phones were so ubiquitous. Ergo -> I have no scanner to scan those pics and upload them with, sorry. Trust me though, b4 2007 I was an NW3 with temples receeding waaay back which looks like total sh**. some people just look worse than others with hairloss..ykwim? Im not crossing the tracks, just sayin-some dudes can loose alll their hair and still look OK due to head shape, size, scalp/skin pigmentation, etc. I'm not one of those guys. I looked really bad and now the hairline is much recovered.
