They're actually quite small. I recommend to cut them into 4 pieces (with a pill cutter or a sharp knife) so you'll have 1.25mg Finasteride per day instead of one. This small difference in dosage doesn't really matter and you'll still save a lot of money.

they are smaller than a grain of salt

it is nearly impossible to cut them into fifths without specialist scientific cutting gear, after all they are tablets not a piece of chalk or something.

I recommend either using a proffesional pill cutting company like http://www.pillsinhalf.com or getting together a few people and splitting the cost of a wilson200V™ (or similar) model (either a 200V or a 160VB, both of which can be picked up for under $1200).

good luck with hairloss

The microscope will be handy for picking up the little pieces, but the lasers are a waste of time if you think they will cut through Proscar.

I actually started taking proscar yesterday for the first time. I used a regular kitchen knife to cut it and half the pill flew across the room...im going to have to look into pill cutters.
BTW its a pretty small pill so it might be hard to cut into even 5ths

This is how I chop 'em into five

Pill cutters are usually usless!

Buy a sharp craft knife/scalpel.

Chop doesn't have to be 'superaccurate'â„¢

A years worth of Proscar should cost you around $150

I recommend using a shaving razor blade to cut the pills. Goes through the proscar like a hot knife through butter (no pieces flying everywhere) and you can cut pretty accurately.

Pill cutters are messy & are not really suitable for the non-circular shaped proscar pills.. A sharp knife with a little bit of pressure works perfectly. I personally cut it into quarters to make sure I'm atleast getting the recommended dosage (the pieces will never be the exact size)

My doctor has assured me that the extra .25 mg per day will make no difference (considering some ppl are prescribed 5 mg a day for prostate problems)..

Happy pill cutting  P.S. why do people waist money on propecia at 5 times the cost???

I personally use a carton cutter blade to cut up my proscar. They may not be the same exact size when cut in fourths, but each piece is over a milligram and the law of averages helps over time ha.

yep! pill cutters are a pain in the ***! never work very well, go to an art/craft store and get a craft knife or scalpel.

omg mrlestat, that debate has been fought over and over on these boards, at lesat every 2 weeks. let's not get into why people would use propecia instead. look at you poor bastards deciding how to try to cut your g'damn proscar, while we just pop a pill every morning with no fuss. let it go :p
