Skull implants to make head shape better?

I am seriously hoping that my skull shape is going to look good one day when I have to shave it. It's my only hope because I will shave my hair. I will never have the blading look, ever, no matter how bad my skull looks. But for now, I wonder what I could do to make my skull look good. I wonder if any plastic surgeons have experimented with skull implants?

Yes, that is another problem I am worried about. However, I have already decided that I will have them adjusted if they don’t look good when I shave my head. That is easy and hopefully not to costly.

I`ll join the Mickey Mouse club with you guys. My ears are quite big too, which is why ive always feared losing my hair as i dont look good with short hair or a shaved head. Ive been thinking seriously about getting them pinned back soon.

Why does no one ever consider a hair system, I know several guys who have them and they are doing fine. Ben Affleck supposedly wears one, Burt reynolds definately does as do a bunch of others. Why is shaving always the final solution? 10 years ago shaved heads looked queer.

I wore a hair system for 4 months in 1997 when i was dumb and confused and didnt know about minoxidil, propecia was unavaialble then (or just before it was released)....terriblle feeling, i hated it, it made you feel paranoid like someone would find out your deep dark secret at any time.

Yeah there is a certain point were a hairpiece is the option. Good God a skull implant? You serious? There are some cheap assholes that have a bad one and look horrible. My dad has a great one and he looks fine wearing it. You couldn't tell he even has one.

orthoplasty i believe is what it's called. i might get it later, but the thing is, you'll have scars in the back of the ear, and if you have no hair because you shave your entire head, the scars might be visible if anyone is looking at you from the back. i guess it's a regular thing for kids to get now (and i do know the torture some kids get for having big ears). i knew a girl who went in for a consultation, and she said the total was around $4,500 with this one surgeon. kind of pricy to pin back your ears back a little.

Wanna know the best way to stop being paranoid about people knowing about your hair piece? Don't hide it. It's not REALLY socially unacceptable to be wearing one. It's a cosmetic thing. Some chicks look good naturally, some chicks wear makeup to compensate. Same with guys, some guys have a natural full head of hair, some don't. Just don't be paranoid about it. If someone asks about it just say "I like it, i think it looks good on me. What do you think?" Who would argue with that?

Elton John is completley bald (well pretty much) he has been wearing his for so long people have forgotten about it!

He wears that rug well, looks completely natural.

pity about the sh*t music, 'although I did like benny and the jets'

I shaved my head down to a 1 clip before. I think that gives a good indication of what your head is shaped like right?

I think it looked ok. Definitely weird seeing your head without hair though man.

There are skull implants but they are not what you think. They are not like breast implants or calf inplants were they are put in your head and filled with saline. The skull implants are only good if you have decent sized dents in your skull from an injury or whatever. It's like a cover they incert the plate, made of plastic, over the dented area so it looks like your head shape is normal. This is mainly done for people that have larger areas of their skull missing, but some have been done on smaller areas for appearance. Whether or not people have had it done so they can pull off male pattern baldness I have my doubts, it is a bit of an extreme measure to take. Just cross your fingers and hope for cloning like the rest of us and get your ears fixed instead.

Although rare, I understand that some doctors (craniofacial surgeons) have done some minor skull modifications for patients who have had sex change operations. For instance, they can insert gortex strips under the skin and muscles of the skull and reshape the forehead in order to make a male skull appear more feminine. I suspect that it is a rather expensive procedure. I guess you could check with your local medical school or university.

I have just the opposite problem; my skull is especially tall (high forehead) -- so inserts and such won't help any.
