Does anyone else have trouble sleeping if they take finasteride immediately before laying down?

I've been conducting some tests on myself. It seems like taking finasteride right before lying down will lead to a restless sleep. finasteride in the morning and I can sleep fine.

Sleep problems started when I shifted to bedtime finasteride, after ~6 months of taking it in the morning.

The is confounded by Magnesium Citrate which I recently started taking at bedtime to help with sleep.

I see no official mention to sleep disturbances as a side-effect.

When I started taking finasteride I admit being a little bit psyched about the sides so I have, since the beginning, been taking the pill before sleep to not think about it much during the day. I did experienced this same thing you are describing the first few nights; it took a long time to sleep, then I woke up to pee and had trouble sleeping again, then I woke up extremely early with a notion of not resting at all.

Fortunately, my body (and mind for that matter) adjusted pretty well although I only sleep around 5 to 7 hours, contrary to the 8 or 9 hours I needed to sleep before starting treatment. Still, I feel more active waking up in the morning now than before so I guess you need to give it some time.

I've always had trouble sleeping and I think finasteride is only making it worse. I find myself sleeping in a lot more too. I've been using finasteride for about 2 weeks now and the only side effects I've noticed are insomnia and a slight nut ache which hasn't gone away yet. I didn't use finasteride last night and had a relatively good sleep.

I'm considering using finasteride the morning from now on to see how I feel.

I have had sleep problems for years. I have a pretty crappy sleep schedule though.
