Do they really harm your hair follicles?

I've been trying to figure this out and been doing my research but there is no conclusive evidence that it actually does harm your scalp....

any opinions?

I don't think they're a big deal - People think they are as they're often used in industrial cleaners.

They can irritate your scalp, but won't actually cause or speed up male pattern baldness I don't think.

Although ideally, you'd want a shampoo without them in it.

I dont think they cause hairloss, although they could be irratating if you have a sensitive scalp wether you have m.p.b or not.
In the past there have been some dicks on here who believe that they are the cause of m.p.b.

It's thought that SLS could shorten the diameter of the hair, causing it to look thinner, but not actually cause hair loss.

Most have it, if they don't, they will normally advertise the fact by saying 'SLS free'

Any know the major shampoo brands which have SLS to avoid?

Wow, that probably would be all the shampoos that you typically find at the supermarket, name any brand and it probably has SLS in it

Hell i even think nizoral has SLS

the only ones that don't are the organic shampoos....

The sodium is just the single atom cation that is not a player in the reaction. It is the lauryl sulphate part that does the work. Many of the organic shampoos will have amonium lauryl sulphate or potasium lauryl sulphate just to fool all the non-chemistry people.

The only truly non-SLS shampoos use glucosides, like capric glucoside, and are mostly available outside the united states. I've read they are so gentle they don't even clean your scalp well. I would use them as a face wash if I could get them. I wonder if Moogoo is still australian only.
