Small, tiny hard hairs on scalp that won't grow back to full length hairs

Hello everyone. I have a problem that I have been worrying about for quite sometime. About a year ago while I was driving, I brushed my hand through my scalp and noticed that I had 'tiny hard little brittle hairs' almost like after you get a buzz cut, on my scalp. I had hair that was almost 2-3 inches long at the time so it didn't really make sense to me. I brushed it off and didn't really pay attention to it that much. A few weeks later, I got a haircut and asked my barber to 'thin' my hair with thinning shears. She thinned it out a little too much and it looked like I had severely thinning hair under a bright light. Fast forward to now, it's been almost 6 months so since my hair cut. My hair still looks pretty thin. Also, there are still brittle hard little hairs on my scalp whenever I put my hands through it.

It seems like I still have tiny buzz cut length hair where it is thinning but it just doesn't grow back. I am confused and I can't really find out anything about it on the internet. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did it lead to further hair loss?

Thank you

Start right away with Rogaine twice a day to a damp scalp.Just after your shower or when you just washed your hair. The results are much better on a damp scalp.

YES!!!

I am having the same problem and cannot find ANY information about this on the internet or anyone with a similar problem until now! Please tell me if you have found out the cause, or if anything has worked. I have noticed this ever since I had my last baby in 2012. First I lost all hair at my temples, it "kind of" grew back just enough to fill it in. Now I have tiny bristly hairs on my scalp hidden under a thinning layer of hair and I am fearing that I am balding. This is so frustrating and scary :(

Bump? I have diffused alopecia areata and on the top back part of my scalp, I feel little hairs. My derma has told me she sees them, and for some ****ing reason it won't grow.

Bump! I'm having the same issue. I know this thread is older but can people please post their thoughts. Maybe I'm in denial....I dunno. But I have these little hairs with tapered ends that seem as through the want to grow but if they're growing it's extremely slow. Is it normal for people who are balding to have little hairs that look promising and just don't seem to grow?
