Smell?

I have never used basic minoxidil or xandrox. Do either of these items smell bad? The reason I ask is because about a month ago I ordered some spironolactone and I used it only once because it was the most atrocious smell I have ever experienced. Obviously I won't use spironolactone so I wanted to know if minoxidil or xandrox reaked too.

On a side note, can anyone attest to finasteride, nizoral, minoxidil +xandrox (I've already been on finasteride and nizoral for 11 months) being a really good regimine? I've heard xandrox is like maple syrup....

No, minoxidil and xandrox don't smell bad, at all. In fact, they don't really have a smell unless you buy the Ocean Rush Rogaine, which is, in fact, much cheaper at Wal-Mart than the regular stuff. I use the Ocean Rush scent, and it kind of smells good.

Did you use the spironolactone 2% or the spironolactone 5%? The 5% shouldn't have a bad smell, but the 2% should be awful.

Xandrox is thick and greasy if you buy the upped minoxidil solutions, such as the 12.5% or 15%. Supposedly, it's worth it.

The spironolactone should, alone, produce some smell, although not as bad as the combination of minoxidil and spironolactone. I believe the word, mercaptane, is used-- which means that the smell is released because the oxygen is being replaced with something else...

I suck at science, sorry guys.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. The off-brand spironolactone that I got was a 5% liquid (i believe).

Aplunk1, your regimine is amazing, you look extremely committed.

Thanks,
I wasn't a good responder to Propecia, but it seems like the Avodart is working. I'm getting darker and thicker hair all over the place!

By the way,
how's the Eucapil working? I'm thinking about adding an antiandrogen to my regime (besides Nizoral) to combat male pattern baldness from a six-sided approach. I'm definitely thinking about ordering a 3-months supply from http://www.menspharma.com.

I should update my profile, I got off it about a month ago. In my opinion it did absolutly nothing. It won't hurt to try b/c it didn't make my hair fall, so maybe it may work for you. I got no results though.

xandrox will not be greasy. xandrox 5 dries in 15-30 minutes. Dr. Lee's #500 (regular minoxidil 5%) dries in 5 minutes.
Xandrox 15 is the maple syrup and never dries.

I use Dr Lee's 5% xandrox and 5% spironolactone topical cream. I think they are a very good combo and and have really boosted my confidence since i started with this regime. The xandrox does not smell at all and dries very fast with no greasiness (rogaine 5%, on the other hand, was very greasy).

The spironolactone has a slight odour in the container (not necessarily unpleasant, more just like any medical cream), but once applied i have never been able to smell it at all.

Can't fault this combo. And being on xandrox 5% is great because i know down the line, if i feel my recession is accelerating again i can always upgrade to the 12.5% and then even later still i will have the 15% option up my sleeve. Its nice having long term contingency plans!

The spironolactone that I got was an off-brand. So you guys are telling me that Dr. Lee's 5% spironolactone mix doesn't smell like nasty skunk like the kind I got does?
