Smoking And Hair Transplants? Two Months?

So in my pre-op instructions for my upcoming FUE, it says to stop smoking two months before the procedure. This obviously sucks for a smoker like myself but I won't jeopardize this investment of mine.

However, all my online research says stuff like you shouldn't smoke several days before, a week before, but nothing as drastic as two months?

Any thoughts or experiences regarding this?

Don't know how much difference it really makes. I remember Dr Wang advised patients to *not* stop smoking before the procedure as doing so could raise your blood pressure. Many clinics would let you smoke during the breaks etc. If you can handle not smoking for more than a few hours( I couldn't) then you're likely not too addicted. Are you just a casual smoker?

Try vaping it works great. I went from a pack a day of cigs to vaping in 3 days. I tried nicotine patches, cool drop, spray, etc none of which worked but vaporizers did.

I briefly looked up vaping instead of smoking in regards to hair transplants and I believe I read it doesn't make a difference. Vaping still isn't good.

I'm not a heavy smoker. I smoke approx 5-7 cigarettes a day maybe?

I could totally understand not smoking a few days before and after. Just two months seems like a lot.

That's good advise. I quit one month ago. Did it cold turkey by taking up vaping.

Personally I wouldn't worry, but it's your call.

Imo, post op instructions for hair transplant vary greatly from clinic to clinic. I wonder how much comes down to idiosyncrasies from the individual doctors rather than solid science.

That's what I'm saying. I haven't seen anyone else say two months.

Most surgery involving anesthesia advise you to stop smoking before/after. I would stop at least 24 hours before as carbon monoxide/nicotine levels can drop in a short period. Try and stay off or switch to vaping for as long as you can after surgery, I imagine you want your micro-circulatory system in the best shape possible. I haven't smoked tobacco since I switched to vape.
