I am new to the forum although i have been reading it for some time.I am 28 years old and have a very receeding hairline and thinning on top. I have tried Rogaine and Regaine and other similar products over the last year but as I have been travelling in third world countried extensively I have often discontinued use of Minoxidil products for periods of up to a monthdue to lack of access.
I am again a couple of weeks into a Minoxidil course which I intend to NOT break. I have noticed both gerneral shedding and apparent regrowth around the temples over the last year and have just recently been shedding more then in the past.
The regrowth I have noticed around the temples is a peach-fuzz, will that grow any longer? Much of the rest of my hair appears to still be growing, but mostly at the back of my head.
I would like to add to my regime now that I am settled. I gather that Procerin is a joke but I am considering Propecia. My hope is for regrowth.
Please Help !

I know your hope is for regrowth but you must be able to make amends with just maintenance :)

Minoxidil is your best shot at regrowth. The 5% is a great starting point. Give it 6months and see where you are at. If you're not happy then look into some stronger minoxidil available at http://www.minoxidil.com.

Procerin is a scam and I would steer clear of it. If you want to go the more natural route look into Revivogen.

I recommend Finasteride however. It is proven to reduce DHT in your body by inhibiting the 5a-reductase enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT. No other product on the market is proven to do that!

Your best plan of action would be to:

1. Finasteride (preferably Proscar cut into 1/4ths or 1/5ths). Take one dose per day.

2. Minoxidil. Use 2x daily

3. Nizoral 2%. Use every 2nd to every 3rd day. First wash with a mild shampoo (baby shampoo works wonders). Rinse and then apply the Nizoral for 5-10mins. Rinse.

Easy as pie :)

I was a diffused thinner and I have nearly 100% recovered from using Finasteride, Nizoral, and zix w/ azelaic acid. These treatments work!

sock, thanks, would you recomend switching from 2% o 5% Minoxidil (currently using Regaine). I find these products messy and greasy and presumed that 5% would be worse, but Ill try anything (except sperm).
Where would you recomend buying finasteride from?
What is zix w/ azelaic acid?
When you say 'recovered' do you mean your hair has stopped thinning? Has it thickened? I am not expecting regrowth but I am trying to get a good idea of what others have experienced.

Depends. The 5% is more greasy then the 2% for sure. The 2%, over a period of about 86weeks about equals what the 5% will give you...

So, your choice is either use the less greasy 2% for 86weeks before you can catch up with the 5% users or use the more greasy 5% and get faster results.

Using sperm on your head is a prank Ken was playing on people. There is no truth to using sperm for regrowth :)

I recommend going to your doctor and getting a prescription for Proscar and cutting it into 1/4ths or 1/5ths.

What is zix w/ azelaic acid?

To find out more about zix click on the following: How to make zix

Adding Azelaic acid makes zix more efficient at inhibiting the 5a-reductase enzyme. It should be noted that the studies on these compounds have been done in-vitro (only in a test tube). There are no studies that have shown these 3 compounds in trio to have any effect in-vivo (in living tissue). However, I've been using zix w/azelaic acid for 2 months now and it really has made a difference in reducing my shed to almost nothing. That is only my personal experience though. Results in other individuals very well may vary :)

I have always been a NW0 with very thick hair. About 2 1/2yrs ago my hair thinned out a lot and the hair near my temples turned a very light blonde and only produced very short hairs....

I was shedding 50-80+ hairs every time I washed my hair and would always get a few hairs in my hands/combs. For me that was very abnormal.

I started on Finasteride first and over 6months my shed 1/2. My hair still seemed like it was thinning but now it was thinning much slower. I added Nizoral 2% and zix w/ azelaic acid and my shed 100% stopped. Over the last 2months my hair is getting noticeably thicker to the point I no longer see any scalp and I can once again style my hair the way I did when I was 18yrs :)

My results with my routine have been very good. The most important thing to keep in mind though is it took several months for me to see any improvement. I also was religious with my routine.

My best advice to you is to start out with Finasteride and Nizoral 2% and give it 6months to 1year. See where you are and then decide if you think you need to add to that routine. Keeping your routine as simple as possible is CRITICAL because whatever routine you decide on has to be done for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!

Dont add a billion things as inevitably these routines become too much to keep up with (time and expense wise) and many guys end up stopping.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
