So confused? Started finasteride 8 months ago. Stop it or keep going?

I’m so certain I’ve read about this somewhere before but I can’t be sure. Started finasteride 8 months ago and my hairline was where the red dots are in the photo. I was basically taking it as a precautionary measure as I was a Norwood 1.5. I couldn’t tell you how but 8 months later my hairline has regressed more than an inch and I’ve never been more confused. Keep in my my hairline recession was so slow it took it about 4 years to go half an inch prior to finasteride. I don’t want to blame finasteride like some blokes do because the science just isn’t there to support the theory but wtf. Recently started oral min & finasteride so let’s hope that does something. Before finasteride I didn’t have diffuse thinning either and now all of a sudden my scalp is visible on top of my hair. All of these happened within 8 months. I will say though that I did go through a stressful event 5 months prior and the hair that is falling out has been quite long. Is this Telogen Effluvium? Does Telogen Effluvium do anything to a hairline cause surely finasteride hasn’t actually just obliterated it. Also does androgenic alopecia hairs have a white bulb on the end? Cause the hairs that have been falling out do. Seriously am so confused Rn every day that goes by my hairline goes back further and further. I’m seriously about to be prince William in this b**ch at the ripe old age of 20. Someone hand me the clippers. (Also I understand that people on this site have much more advanced thinning and would kill for the amount of hair that I have. Just wondering if anyone has any idea why it’s going so quick)

The thing about the bulbs and what they mean in general is about as clear as mud but see if any of this makes sense to you:

I would recommend that you buy an alternate between NIzoral or Keto 2 percent and Selsun Blue for inflammation. Some times halting inflammation can halt hair loss of either type at least termorarily. I would also consider adding minoxidil topical and if that doesn't help then considering oral minoxidil.

What if you've tried everything and nothing has worked for inflammation? I'm going nuts. It can't be a coincidence that whenever my seb derm kicks in, I start shedding like a dog. I'm not even receding, but thanks to this incurable inflammation I lost my density considerably. Tired of dermatologists, I've been to three and they don't recommend me anything else other than stuff containing zinc or salicyclic acid

Keep going. If you search for through all the threads of people complaining finasteride made my hair worse. You will find it all happens around the 8 month mark like clockwork. Could be a telogen effluvium set off by hormone changes and disruption of your pre-finasteride hair cycles. Been on finasteride for over 15 years and you will go thru rollercoaster shed cycles. Overall, you should be able to maintain whatever you have around the two year mark unless your gene is too aggressive.

Even HRT didn't cure my very similar face and scalp rashes and dermatitis. What it did cure it was having my beard removed. I happen to think that beard removal is good for hair too.

I don't like beards, I shave it as soon as it starts to grow. It's a burden.
