So if you have hyperandrogenicity is topical finasteride a no go?

If so, then back to the drawing board. :thumbdown2:

Presumably you mean clinically-apparent "reflex hyperandrogenicity" from finasteride. Remember, finasteride specifically protects hair follicles (and prostate tissue). So clinical reflex hyperandrogenicity affecting (say) oil glands does not necessarily translate into making pattern loss worse.

Well I hate to say it Doctor but I seem to be one of the rare ones as R.H. is making my hair worse and got all the stereotypical symptoms.

Obsidian, instead of second guessing yourself. Get your doctor to do the Hairdx test for balding and if you will respond to Propecia. I think stress is more the issue for you. It also causes your face to be more oily and increases acne. Did you stop taking Propecia?

Not yet, I am going to the Doctor for a blood test for my testosterone (total and free), estrogen, estraidol, DHT, DHEA, SHBG, Cortisol, and prolactin.

I need to call my doctor after school ends to see about the hairdx with propecia test.

I know some people say it's pointless unless you got one before finasteride but I think it might be able to point out what's wrong if anything.

I had that same panel as you listed done but I also requested a thyroid panel too. Very expensive blood test. I went to Lab Corp and they charged me over 700 dollars for those tests. I just got the bill again and the company is having problems processing the claim with my insurance. I think that is a total rip off for that blood panel. Everything came out normal for me. You may want a thyroid panel added too. I wanted to make sure Propecia did not alter my thyroid as well.

Well I can say I got back the tests they ran on me when I was in the hospital for pancreatitis and they said my live enzymes were elevated but they do not know from what. I said finasteride but they don't think so.

Obsidian I can understand how this fear of R.H is driving you up the wall and wanting a solution to it but i really doubt you have it, remember it gets triggered as soon as someone starts finasteride and your hair improved while on finasteride, you really need to get the tests done so it can put your mind at ease. Hope things turn out positive for you.
