Soft erections after switching to generic Propecia

I've been on Propecia (1mg) since I was 20. I'm 28 now, and the generic just came out. I've been taking it about a week, but I've just noticed my erections aren't as firm as they usually are.

This happened before when I switched to generic Proscar briefly two years ago. My erections were not as hard, so I switched back to Propecia and they recovered.

Any reason this would be happening considering its all the same drug? Will the erection problems get worse or resolve if I stay on the generic?

it's most likely all in your head, but if you're concerned then switch back to the branded pills.

Have you experienced any side effects in the 8 years you've been taking it?

I have noticed a change in erections also after switching to generic Propecia. I have been on it for a month and the problems seemed to have minimized, but I think I'm going back to the name brand till generic comes down in price a bit more....if it ever does.

Only a doctor can say for sure.

There are several factors (anxiety, fatigue, stress, hormone levels, etc.) that can affect sexual function and finasteride is definitely one of them but only your doctor (urologist) can determine the exact cause of your problem.

Moreover it's perfectly normal to lose your erection every now and then, that's not ED and it's nothing to worry about.

So my advice is this: go see a doctor. It's no shame to seek professional help and self medication is always a risk.
