Hey guys, thought I'd drop in and show you my progress so far. My hairline started to recede very fast when I was about 16, about a year later I jumped on finasteride and I've been using it for about 10 months now along with nizoral 2-3 times a week.

My hairline has definitely improved quite a bit and my overall hair feels thicker and healthier(though I did not experience any crown thinning when I jumped on finasteride, but I'm guessing it wasn't far away) This is a picture I took about a month before I started taking finasteride:

This is a picture I took recently:

Right temple before:(actually this picture is from about 7 months before starting finasteride)

Right temple after:

Unfortunately I don't have any before on my left temple but it was a lot worse than the right, but here is after:

He's getting a lot more than baby hair, he's gone from having a receding hairline to no noticeable hair loss at all

It seems the younger you are the better chance you have of finasteride working.....the only problem is for guys who are destined to be NW5-7s early on in life, they usually start balding early and try to ignore it and don't get on finasteride...and those that do, often the genetics is so bad it doesn't help much.

In your case it seems you were heading to a receding hairline of some sort pretty early, you caught it, and you've more than reversed it.

good luck man. i'm 21, if I have your success then I'll be more than happy

do you use brand name proscar?

also do you use 1% or 2% nizoral

True but only during the last ten years or so. When I was at that age the only solution was just to accept the fact.

Yes I use proscar along with 2% nizoral which has also helped a lot with my seborrheic dermatitis.

how long did it take before you started to see results?
I think after about 4 months I noticed a big decrease in shedding, prior to that I'd always find very small and thin hairs on my shoulders, maybe just an inch long.

The only thing that helps when my seb derm flares up is a topical corticosteroid, talk to your derm and you should be able to get a prescription. I have experimented with many natural approaches but when it really flares up, the steroids are the only thing that helps me.

Congratulations on your success! May it last very long!

I would like to ask you a question: Did you notice a lot of shedding before you were on medication?

Thanks

Thank you! Yes I did notice a lot of smaller hairs falling out, my hair is kinda long, maybe 10 inches, and those hairs that fell were maybe just an inch long and very thin.

Nice improvement, congrats. Where did you get your finasteride btw?
Thanks, I met a really nice doctor who prescribed proscar instead of propecia immediately :)

Nice one! Looks really good. Are you splitting your Proscar pill into 1/4?
Thank you :) Yes I do, most of the time the pieces are not even at all but I guess that doesn't matter that much.

Congrats Brucie. I've never seen such great regrowth in the front without minoxidil. I guess you're just "genetically different baby." lol

did the regrown hair first come in as short unpigmented hair?

i ask because ive been on the big 3 for 3 months and im starting to get baby hairs in my temples that im hoping will thicken up.
Yes, that's how I remember it. In the beginning I could easily see through my temples a couple of millimeters since the hairs there were so fine but when I look now the hairs are a lot darker and thicker.
