Something we need to clarify about the Propecia trial.

Could someone who lives in the U.S. call Merck's headquarter and get the answer to how long it took for men who participated in the Propecia trial, to return to normal when they quit because of side effects? They don't have any e-mail address.

Wait and see, is an argument a lot of people get when they seek help for side effects, which won't go away, after quitting the drug. This is something we need to clarify.

No answer yet. What I've read, says that the DHT level should be normal 2 weeks after stopping treatment with 1 mg finasteride a day, which means that we shouldn't wait any longer than a month. If the sexual side effects haven't subsided within that time, you may have a serious problem.

The way it seems for most people is that they either recover within 2 months, or they have problems indefinitely. Who really cares what lies Merck has to feed us?

There are maybe 2 or 3 recovery stories on the propecia help site of people who recovered naturally over an extended period of time, however none of these people seemed to have it that bad... just some lost libido or mental(depression, anxiety, brain fog) type issues. I have yet to see any longterm sufferers with major issues(penile disfigurement, muscle wastage/body form changes, prostatitis, etc) report a natural recovery.

From what I've noticed, the only things that consistently get better for PFS sufferers are some of the mental sides. I believe there are two components to this drug's side effects-- hormonal and neurological(since it's known that it passes the blood-brain barrier). If you only have neurological sides, you have a much higher chance of recovery.

For me in the past 7 months, the ONLY thing that has returned to normal is my sleeping patterns. When I first came off finasteride, my sleep was out of control... I was waking up every 30 minutes at night. Took a few months to correct, but now I sleep normally again.

It's important because, if they say that all their subjects returned to normal within a month or whatever, it'll be easier for people to get professional help. So anyone, please call and get this information.

Thanks. I've sent an e-mail and I'll post the response here, if I get any. I would still appreciate if someone could call the headquarter and ask.
