I started rogaine foam 5% just over a month ago, I only missed one application..I noticed after a week that I was shedding more but I wasn't too worried about it because I knew it was the main side effect.

The last 4-5 days have been terrible, today I decided to count the hairs I was losing one by one starting from my pillow case in the morning...shower...comb, etc. I'm in the 17X range as of right now at 6pm.

So that's it, I'm done with rogaine for now...I'll still use propecia since I've been on it for over 5 years...I'll still use nizoral because I've been on it for 3 months and my scalp looks much better.

I'm meeting my dermatologist late november and I'm getting a blood test done early december so I'll decide from there.

:badmood:

it absolutely amazes me that despite all the advice and all the 'stick through the shed' encouragement, people use the foam for a month, have the shed then jump ship!!

Curly2bald-TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO HAD A MASSIVE FOAM SHED

GET BACK ON IT!!!! RIDE IT OUT

IT WILL COME BACK THICKER!!!!!

surely you must have read that you would shed ,that it indicates good things happening, that if you stick with the treatment it will be all worth it?:!

GET BACK ON IT!!!!!!!!

really, this is GENIUS advice from me :jump: :jump:

i guarantee many people will be along to tell you exactly the same thing

I know, I know...I thought I was already getting a shed and that I could live with it but when it got 5 times worst I couldn't deal with it anymore. :shakehead:

I could pull out all of my hair with little to no effort...it's crazy.

ha ha this is why so many guys do not use rogaine and this is why so many guys are bald. I had to lose a sh*t load of hair to get my hair back and I'm totally happy I got through the sheds. just wear a hat for a few months and cut your hair back short and realize it is worth it you'll be patting yourself on the back in 5 months

You have to look at treatments in the long term.

But KielMcK has a very good point. I wonder how many people actually make it through their first bottle of rogaine.

Quitting rogaine after shedding is unreasonable because this hair would fall out ANYWAY within the next few months since sheding affects only telogen hair. Besides, active shedding is a sign of good response to minoxidil as was said before.

I only skipped one application and went right back on it...not sure how long I can live with this, I can actually see my hair getting worst.

alright dickhead... i really did not wanna post this pic because i find it embarrassing that my hair was at this state this summer but here it is. I'm doing this as a sacrafice in hopes that more guys stick it through the bad times. I started the rogaine foam on June 24th 2007. My temples got destroyed and only till this last month have I been seeing a regrowth everywhere. It is an amazing feeling and I assure you people treat you differently.

Actually if you only have a quick look at the pics they do look similar but when you compare one spot at the time you clearly see the improvement.

As soon as I cut down the minoxidil the shedding slowed down by 50%, now after 2 more applications I'm back at 100% shedding. :thumbdown2: Is it normal that if I pull on my hair just a little ALOT comes out? I try not to rub my head too hard against anything.

I( was quite drunk last night and am pretty sure I was trying to make a joke saying that was his actual picture in the avatar that is actually a cartoon with hair? ..... i will stay off the forums when drunk for now on.

As for the pic. I had taking some pics in july with my digi camera. I will post a before and after. I really have gotten quite a bit of temple regrowth. I think it will be easier to see with a higher quality camera.

Reguardless I just suggest to anyone to stick to the rogaine until atleast 5-6 months before they really see improvement.

considering the temples are notoriously hard to maintain let alone regrow thats amazing.

WTF - how can you not notice the difference, he has defined temples not and in the before photo they go back a fair way. I'd be damn happy with that. I'm pretty much in the same boat now. I was on generic min and procepia for a year and my hairloss has gotten dramatically worse. I mean i went from a NWO with ultra thick hair to slight temple thinning so jumped on the big three then a year later its getting so aggressive.

Been on the foam and dutasteride for a month now and it def has increased. Though the hairs i'm shedding are all white except for the dark roots and some small black hairs so i'm hoping this is a positive thing. Though i def didnt respond to the gen minoxidil or finasteride so while i'm hopeful i'm not expecting too much.

I love the way the foam makes the hair feel thick though, god imagine if you didnt have hairloss and used that and nizoral 2%, you wouldnt be able to run your hand through it.

Question - how long did it take for you to see the results? I mean how did it look when the regrowth started, I've got tiny almost invsible hairs that you can only see in bright light all over my temples but they're not doing anything.

Anyway congrats mate, you should be proud. I'm sticking it out, as hard as it gets (and I know TC as my hair is getting visibly worse with every week) sometimes you got to remember there is a reason you started the foam in the first place.

I never realized how important temples are until I started losing them. I had to like brush my hair foreward before to cover the fact that my temples were receding and it looked retarded. now I can slick my hair back and it looks fine. Also I'm only at month 4 on the foam so hopefully that just keep gettin better.

Yeah i know - theres not alot you can do with your hair when your temples are gone. I used to alternate between a fauxhawk and a messy fringe look but now god I have to do the whole push hair forward thing as retarded as it does look, the other option would be to spike it up but considering i've got receded temples and a thin hairline it looks far worse, little messy hairs all over the place and sparse looking, not good.

I think its buzz time.
