OK, I read the spironolactone thread, all 13 pages, found very few references to the smell.
I just got my stuff from Dr. Lee, 2% and 5% cream. He said I need to put the 2% spironolactone on before the 5% Xandrox (minoxidil), because if I put the minoxidil on first it would come into contact with the spironolactone applicator and the spironolactone applicator would begin to smell after a few days due to the reaction between spironolactone and minoxidil.
But when using the 5% creaem I should put it on last to encapsulate the minoxidil [and presumably because there is no applicator to contaminate].
Well, this is what happened. I put on the 2% spironolactone and let it dry for about an hour. My scalp was completely dry as far as I could tell. No odor in the product or on my head. Now, I apply the 5% Xandrox, and BANG! Faint skunk smell. Before I even finish putting it on my head. Hours later, I am still dragging a faint skunk smell around with me.
What are your strategies with spironolactone and minoxidil with respect to minimizing smell?
Thanks!
