I have read from informed people that using a combo of xandrox and spironolactone is the same, if not better than taking propecia and using minoxidil. Is this true? It seems like spironolactone is better than propecia at deal with DHT, from what i have read. Plus propecia seems to have more side effects.

A very good question, jrw. I've actually wondered how the Alzaleic Acid in Xandrox stacks up against Propecia as a DHT suppressant? Any Xandrox users out there who use Xandrox or Xandrox/spironolactone in lieu of Propecia? What has your experience been??

According to Dr Lee, propecia only reduces some 38% of the dht in the scalp. He adds that spironolactone actually bonds to the receptor site to eliminate dht attaching to it. He also said that the azaelic acid in xandrox prevents basically all dht synthesis where it is applied. So my point is that shouldnt that be more effective than propecia and minoxidil. It sounds like it would be.

Yeap. But, things on the scalp can often times turn out much differently than the way they are supposed to turn out on paper.

Sorry guys but the mess and stink of spironolactone don't make it a very good product especially when you have to use it twice a day for effectiveness.

That damn skunk smell follows me everywhere. I hope they approve Fluridil soon or RU. Wheres Funkster been, any news?

The main reason I like Propecia is that it helps the entire scalp. Topicals will help regions where they're applied to, and surrounding areas, but not the entire head. I like having someone out there fighting for hair I'm destined to lose, but don't quite know it yet.

Too bad there isn't a test to find out if you're likely to become a Norwood 3, or all the way downhill to 7.
