Hi everyone,

I am 32 years old and I was diagnosed with alopecia, however the balding is more of a diffused thinning. I still have my hairline, but in the front and on top is very thin. I started taking Finasteride (1mg/day) 6 days ago. I took Finasteride for 5 days. The first day I took a nap at 3 O'Clock PM, which was weird because I'm never tired at that time. For the next four days I experienced the same sleepiness along with chills, lightheadedness, dizziness, brain fog, vertigo from standing up, and zombie like movements where I felt like my body was lagging, my vision seemed blurry and the frames would skip. I had this feeling like I just got done smoking a bit of weed or like I was kinda drunk. Today I didn't take Finasteride and I felt much better, but I'm still feeling a bit hungover although I can function like I normally do. I don't really have any other side effects besides my left testicle hurting a bit. I emailed my doctor and he told me to do 1mg/day for 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Honestly, I'm kinda scared to take finasteride again. This took quite a toll on my body on just after 5 days, not sure what reducing it to 3 is going to do. I still have to function for work, and I wouldn't drive while medicated. Taking it before I go to sleep is an option, but even if I still experience these side effect at night, I don't believe it would be healthy for me. I read things about memory loss and brain fog, and that I would be taking a risk on it if I choose to continue. I might let things clear up and I try 0.25mg a day, but I'm not sure. If I'm having this kind of reaction, maybe my body is telling me something - that I should reject this drug completely. I'm posting here because this seems to be a rare side effect that I don't hear about from the Hair Loss community, it seems to be more on Erectile Dysfunction and other related things. I'm looking for advice on what I should do and why I had this specific reaction to Finasteride or if anyone can tell me some similar experiences. My doctor hasn't been very helpful, just telling me that this is rare and it shouldn't happen and to stick with Finasteride. So, hopefully someone here can help me out.

Thank you,
brondo
