Starting finasteride with preknown semen condition?

Hi guys,

My hairloss doctor has prescribed me topical finasteride after a thorough DNA test by Fagron.
During that time my hairloss doctor also recommended me to see a urologist to get my semen checked prior to starting finasteride.
Now it turns out I have teratospermia in which the quantity is ok but the morphology is not ideal. So my urologist advises not to use finasteride.
(minoxidil has been trialed on me for 8 months without any benefit)

Hoping to get some advice on this. Maybe someone experienced the same?

I have been through a depression with this hairloss and not seeing my long distance girlfriend for 1.5y due to COVID.
I am trying my best to tackle problems one by one. But it seems I will be unable to start up finasteride.

I would just do it. Not everyone on finasteride goes to check with their urologist before starting. I’m sure a lot more people would have been warned about it. Besides, finasteride doesn’t seem to affect morphology, just the count which it seems you’re okay in.

Yeah definitely don't use finasteride man.

Look into alternatives.
And what would those be?
Are you referring to Zix, topical dutasteride, RU ... of which I read a bit but seem obscure.

Thanks for the info. I read too that morphology should be unaffected. But I worry if the morphology is not good to begin with, it still might deteriorate. Sigh. You're right on nobody going to the urologist first tho. Even my urologist was confused someone was checking this pro-actively.

I would personally opt for topical dutasteride as a safer option

Currently I was prescribed Finasteride 0.1% in Trichosol solution by Fagron.
I see Fagron also has a solution with Dutasteride 0.25% (which seems a lot).
I can ask about it.
I know lots of people are hyped on topical Dutasteride. How is it working out for you?
