"The day following the filming of his final episode for the show, he shaved his head. This was something he wanted to do for many years, but the show's producers would not allow it."

It turns out Steve who used to present Blue's Clues actually left the show because he was going bald. This in itself is depressing enough but then just a quick glance at the comments and you would see (baring in mind 95% of these guys are white males in the 18-35 bracket) that no one has any intention of talking about the issue. It's taboo! They would rather completely dodge the bullet and talk about the whole article like it was a joke and Steve wasn't a real person. And they being from the age bracket where a lot of these guys will start to go bald. They aren't talking about the injustice this guy suffered. It terrifies them into silence about the issue, the denial is there before the disease has even begun!
Luckily there is a comment pointing out the discrimination about 3/4 of the way down but surprise surprise it generated 0 discussion.

It's just ridiculously depressing the amount of bald discrimination even from people right around the corner from male pattern baldness themselves.

Most guys that age aren't balding. For them life never changed. When you had all your hair, most likely, you never thought about losing hair or bald discrimination.

Still, agree with everything you said. At least, there isn't a lot of mockery for his hair loss. See any Rafael Nadal thread, damn that guy is being ridiculed for his hair loss AF.

Depresses me to know that I am one of the few that started to lose it aggressively in his late teens.

A lot of white guys begin to lose hair in their late 20s early 30s. Half of men will have some degree of hair loss by 50 and that's across all races, that figure rises significantly amongst white men.

Those who have a significant amount of hair at 50 will experience very very slow hair loss from that age onwards. Being a NW2-NW2.5 at 50 equates good life.

I always thought 30% of men had significant hair loss at the age of 30. Now, that is a lot, but most still have very good hair at that age. I could be wrong, though.

I've heard that but am unsure of its truth. My uncle is around 55 and has thinned noticeably at the crown in recent years.

Good for him though man. I am certain this was probably his personal decision after all, no? I assume he was extremely popular, making good money, and like every one else in hollywood, could have just gotten a hair piece. He still has a young looking face and could have easily done this.

I understand, you're point is in the reactions people had to this and I believe you are correct - men do not feel comfortable talking about hair loss. We are supposed to just be tough and handle every single f*cking thing that comes our way. I am sick and tired of this taboo. My good friend called me the other day, and I was shocked. He is the first person in my life that has opened up to me about losing his hair. He said he only felt comfortable talking to me about it because I had opened up to him in the past about how my own hair loss was consuming me. He couldn't talk to anyone else. I can not even talk to my own f*cking family about it. My Dad who's nearly slick - if I even mention a word he respond with, "oh, who cares, wear a hat you dumbass". My ex's?? Nada. Nothing. Didn't even understand why I wouldn't want to shave bald, even after explaining about the disfiguring hair transplant I had. It's useless man. I don't know the stigma in other countries, but in the U.S. - don't even bother ever revealing that this is a concern to ANYONE. EVER. Unless it's HairLossTalk.com - y'all are awesome. I haven't even met you, yet a kinship forms because I can talk more openly here than anywhere else about this HORRIFYING affliction.
