If finasteride is not working sufficiently for you, switching to its more powerful alternative dutasteride is one option.

Stopped finasteride about 2 weeks ago and still have burning scalp , itching , oily hair and hair loss definitely increased so am thinking about dutasteride but afraid if it’s reflex hyperandro it will increase in duta as some people here said

Just out of interest, has your hair dried and was the tingling/itching present before finasteride?

I EXPERIENCED THIS EXCEPT THE OILY HAIR BUT MINE STARTED 6-7 MONTHS AND IT KILLED MY HAIR DENSITY SO BAD, I HAVE NEVER LOST SO MUCH HAIR UNTIL I STARTED TAKING finasteride....THESE PPL TELLING YOU TO TAKE DUTA... I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT, IF YOU ARE GETTING SIDES WITH finasteride, WOULDN'T YOU GET THAT WITH DUTA..?

It’s only been 3 months. Just wait it out, results normally take 6-9 months. It’s been 5 for me & still waiting

I used to have oil in my scalp and some itching & tingling but after finasteride it’s incredibly increased
Yeh my head became much more oily, but my hair itself was incredibly dry to feel. Even breaks. My itching has decreased alot since dropping finasteride, but I also have the tingling/burning feeling which was never present before finasteride. Horrible drug

Have you tried using scalp shampoos, moisturizing conditioner and/or dandruff shampoo? Using those things helped me. I have much less itching in the scalp and less dry hair now. I'm on dutasteride and minoxidil.

I have! To be fair, the itching has subsided alot since I've been using standard head and shoulders, I'm not sure if it's the shampoo that has helped the itch or a coincidence, I figured just stick to the shampoo anyway. My hair isn't as dry as it used to be while I was on Finasteride, I tend to use Aussie conditioner to help this, too. But it's nowhere near its former glory. Nothing seems to help the burning/tingling though

Contrary to what I guessed, propecia has done zero for my itch. Its exactly the same, but I do think its doing something. Im at month 5. I would give it a year at minimum before deciding anything maybe even 1.5 or 2 years.
At month 5 I am starting to see tiny hairs regrowing. Whether they regrow or not its going to be months more. Its very very slow.
