Stopped finasteride Due To Ed - Go Back At Lower Dose?

Hello

Firstly I'd like to say thank you to the users of this forum. I have found it a very useful resource over the last few months and have just signed up.

Shortly before I found this forum, I tried taking 1mg generic finasteride once per day and after just over a week, I found I unfortunately developed complete ED. I'm not over-exaggerating- this was not simply a lack of libido. I suffered no other side effects, but obviously found this side effect quite inconvenient to say the least.

I was extremely relieved when everything returned to normal in about a week after I stopped taking the drug.

I have been advised by a hair transplant surgeon that I should try taking a lower dose, such as 0.25mg or 0.5mg. He has told me that other patients who suffered side effects from finasteride have overcome the side effects by doing so.

However, I'm very concerned about trying again, even on a lower dose. This is mainly because i do not know the nature of these other men's side effects: did they suffer from brain fog, testicular pain etc, or complete ED like me?

Since having this experience and looking on this forum, I've seen some comments from users saying they overcame side effects with lower doses and/or side effects went away after a period of continuous use. Again, I'm concerned that their side effects may not have been as severe (or, in any event, the same) as mine.

Could anyone please comment if they've had a similar experience or have any advice?

Many thanks

I've read that in many posts - that lowering dose lessens sides. There's some that say it catches up with them in the end.

I take .25mg, but it's only been 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I've heard that even this small amount comes close to the same reduction in dht and thus would probably mean around the same number of sides. If you want, you can try topical finasteride, but there's debate too about how much is absorbed by your blood stream anyways. It's rarely talked about compared to finasteride, minoxidil and other methods, but I just started looking into Ru58841. But that isn't on the market yet.
