The pics are taken with my camera phone today, 03-14-06.....I am 27 yrs old and began to lose my hair 4 yrs ago. My dad, his brother, my mothers father, even my mom has thin hair. So I have aggressive mbp, and am extremely lucky I have made it this far at 27. I am perpetually depressed. I have seen my hair get worse and the worse of it is still to come. I am in good shape, and somewhat handsome (that is my ego talking- this has more to do with how the world will relate to me, men and women). With my hair loss, I can't imagine how the hell I will function in life. There is no hope, we must all accept our fate, only holding off the inevitable will gain us a few more years of peace.

My regimen:
I was a NW1 when my mom noticed vertex thinning 4 years ago. I got on minoxidil right away. I have sinced used it religously for 4 years (In the last 1.5 years I have only used it once per day, 1 mL on vertex and 1 mL on hairline & temples - to no avail of course)

I started Propecia 3 years ago when I noticed my overall scalp thinning. I use Propecia religiously to this day. It worked great until one year ago. Since then my temples receded significantly (see pics) and in the last 2 months I noticed my hairline cratering (if might be tough to see from the pics, but look cloesely and you can see the hairline is thinning). I can't stress enought how I obsess in the mirror, looking at my hairline. I can see how clearly the hair is being removed systematically. It kills me... As of this day the propecia has helped with scalp coverage greatly (so anyone with a full scalp coverage should get on this stuff right away if you know if you have mbp.

That's all the valid meds I have ever used. I am looking to add something else, but realistically there is nothing.

Maybe low level laser therapy to at least to maintain hair or make it look at least thicker? Nizoral 1% and tricomin I am beginning to use, but realistically that's just not going to stop the loss of hair. Dutaseride, but I think it might be hard to find a doctor willing to presrcibe it for hair loss treatment, as it's not FDA approved for hair loss (I live in the Chicago area). I welcome any comments, suggestions. Peace.

EDIT 03/15/06: I just ordered Revivogen, mainly to use on the hair line. I figure I need to do something. I read it helps to block both types of 5AR enzymes. Has anyone used Revivogen? I'd like to know your thoughts on this product, good or bad. Thanks.

Dude..frankly what hairloss are you talking about. for a 27 year old your hair looks pretty normal to me. Maybe its the result of all the medications you are taking thats keeping it there, but looking at it seems like whatever you are taking is working fine.

Am I wrong...others???

only the 2nd photo is shitty, cuz I tried to take a close up of my central hairline.....Since It seems not many here have taken finasteride as long as I have (3 years) I figured I could help some realize that taking this stuff helps. The pics show, to a degree, of overall scalp coverage. This is due to taking finasteride everyday for 3 yrs, otherwise it would like....well I don't even want to think about it right now, as I am feeling ok for the moment. The efficacy does ware off over time, as evidenced in my receded temples, and my unthickening of the hairline. Obvious to me, imperceptible to others, noticeable nonetheless.

I will post in a few months to compare again, although I hope I'm not in a depressive mood as to not look in a mirror by then. At least I posted pics to show you guys something.

Cool that you posted some photo's. Basically I'm 7 years younger than you (and blonde, not dark haired) - your hair looks pretty good. I have no idea what I will look like @ 27.

It's hard to assess, but from what I can tell you, you could be a *lot* worse off. I don't know a lot about hairloss as Ive only started receding myself but i'd be very interested in knowing how your hairline responds to the rogaine.

Keep us updated :)
