Since I have been lurking here, I thought I would share some things I've noticed for the young guys like me (at least I was) when choosing meds.
I started losing my hair at age 20, induced by a heavy cycle of anabolics. I don't need a lecture, I know I induced this on my own. I took mostly sustanon and gained abut 30lbs in 8 weeks. I decided to keep on it and from week 9-10, I began to dump hair from my hairline. This scared the sh*t out of me, and at the advice of people at anabolex.com, I began using xandrox. It actually worked, and I began to feel a ton of small, spiny-feeling hairs when I ran my hand through my hair. That along with my normalizing hormones kept my hair in good shape for a few years, but the damage was done. Around 23 I stupidly started again, and this time I added propecia when my hair started to shed from winstrol.
Holy sh*t! After only a few weeks of propecia, my sex drive was 0, my brain was foggy, I was depressed and after 6 weeks or so I was Shedding MASSIVELY. This was not from the anabolics, trust me, I know my body. Little did I know, it was probably WORKING with that type of shed, and I bailed too quickly. Since then it has been on and off with nizoral and rogaine, and I can't really speak to the success I've had, although I am currently frontal thinning between Norwood 2 and 3.
Recently, at 31, I've been looking into various types of hair transplant, and decided to give propecia (fincar) another shot, especially since many hair transplant docs recommend 6 months of propecia before hair transplant, as well as xandrox 15. I haven't yet started the xandrox, but I have noticed some VERY strange effects from the Fincar, and MUCH DIFFERENT/OPPOSITE THAN WHEN I WAS YOUNGER.
1) I was producing a TON of earwax in the last few years. Since starting fincar, I am producing almost no earwax, and the wax I do is much "wetter" than before
2) Unlike when I was younger, I am in a BETTER mood
3) Strangely, my testicles seem to have enlarged slightly
4) Before the fincar, my hair used to soak up the conditioner. Once I put it in, my hands would "skid" in my hair, and I would have to keep putting more into my hands. Now a small handful will spread through my hair.
5) My insane covering of body hair pulls out easily now, while my head hair does not.
6) My sex drive is up.
7) My eyebrows are growing like crazy from the rogaine foam I am currently using (started months before the fincar). Once I became somewhat religious with it, certain eyebrow hairs doubled in length and took on a lighter color/tubular appearance to the hair.
I know my experience may not apply to everyone here, but I can take some lessons already:
1) Your body chemistry changes over time, so every user reacts differently and may react differently at different life stages.
2) The use of anabolics triggered my hairloss much earlier (30 years) than other in my family, and while I am in good shape today, I would be in the same shape or better if I had simply stayed in the gym without the use of hormones.
If any of the gurus care to comment, your input is appreciated.
