Strategies for applying minoxidil Foam

Hi guys,

So I bought some minoxidil foam and I'm wondering if you guys out there have any tips for correctly applying the stuff. I have fairly long hair (which i need to keep to hide the thinning areas) so I'm not sure if most of what I'm applying is getting to my scalp. The stuff dries so quickly, its hard to tell.

Anyway, it would be awesome if you guys could share some of your techniques to help you keep track of how much and where you've applied. Also, what's the ebst way to dispense the foam? For the past two days that i've been using it, i squeeze out the foam directly on my scalp and then work it in. However then i can't keep track of how much i put on my scalp.

I squirt it into the cap first, run my index finger under cold water and quickly dry it to make sure it's cold, the foam doesn't melt this way. I scoop it out and apply it in sections starting on my left temple and working to the right, I use enough so that I can push the foam back through the hair and cover my whole frontal area, it covers the hair too but this can't really be avoided. I usually end up using just over 1/2 a cap, finally.. I wipe dry close to the hairline and temples leaving enough space for the required regrowth. Don't forget to wash your hands afterwards or you'll end up with hairy fingertips. :p

what do you do about the back of your head. it's really difficult to know what's going on there.

Try using two mirrors. A portable mirror and a mounted mirror.

That's what I do, use the bathroom mirror and a hand held unit, it allows me to get a good application in back.

best application of foam

I had tried using the foam with little results before. However one of my friends gave me a tip, "get a scalp massager, any palm type will work, but the ones for babies work the best". I started doing this about one month ago, just putting the foam directly into my hair, and then massaging it in for 1 to 2 minutes. I have seen unbelivable results in just one month. I would recommend trying this to anyone who wants to use the foam.

Why not try disposable latex gloves for applying the foam? I found it particulary easy for areas of the scalp that has a denser amount of hair. With the gloves the foam is less likey to melt on the finger, and more is absorbed by the scalp when applying.

I too have a good bit of hair on top yet (although its going bye bye daily). What I do is wet my hair very lightly and comb 3 or 4 rows (kinda like corn rows without the braiding part 8) ) from back to front and then run streams of the foam along the rows and press it down with my palm. I find massaging it leaves my hands looking like teenwolf afterwards and leaves me feeling dissapointed. Although it causes the cans to empty faster (like 2 weeks per can) I see it as a small price to pay to make sure im covered. I gotta say the foam is much more efficient than the original liquid and less messy. Cant wait for it to come out cheaper in generic form!
