Success Followed By The Second Shed

So... I started minoxidil and Nizoral roughly 7 months ago and have since seen amazing results. However... around 6 1/2 months I started losing the progress. Now, I understand that a second shed is quite common and it seems the hair grows back thicker and stronger. However, what I'm wondering is how long after your second shed does it take for the hairs that fell out to regrow. If any experienced user can tell me from their time using ONLY minoxidil and nizoral how long it took their hair to look restored. Also any other bits of information that'll be useful for future reference is welcome.

Anyone's testimony would be useless to yours, since various people have varying levels of hormones and sensitivity.

Androgenetic Alopecia is what happens when the follicles become sensitive enough that what ever androgens are circulating around are enough to trigger miniaturization.

The amount of hormones and level of sensitivity is different throughout people, that there's no general answer to your question. Because your sensitivity and hormone profile will certainly be NOT IDENTICAL to anyone else's, whatever answer they give you will most definately not apply to you. Unless in theory you're absolutely near identical.

If you started losing progress after continuous application, it could be that your sensitivity increased throughout that time. This could be the DHT Paradox. Eunuchs would still miniaturize at an accelerated rate when injected with testosterone even if they don't have high levels of DHT. When sensitivity increases, the follicles require less androgens to miniaturize. We should develop a sensitivity rating system to give an idea of what approach to take, in addition to testing your hormones. This way you'll know if it's just a high androgen ratio or high sensitivity. In Androgenetic Alopecia, the affected follicles increase in sensitivity that relative to the individual, whatever circulating androgens one has, is enough to trigger miniaturization. It's almost always the temples have the most sensitivity. Sometimes this may not be the case as some have sensitivity in the vertex and none at the temples, but those are usually rare cases.

In Androgenetic Alopecia, the affected follicles increase in sensitivity independent of DHT, androgens and all that. Basically sensitive follicles load the gun, androgens pulls the trigger. The effort required to pull the trigger varies throughout various people.

It helps to think of it as a going up a downward escalator:

Sensitivity + Hormones = Downward Velocity.

The potency of your regimen = Your upward motion.

It doesn't take long for them to start growing again, maybe six weeks, but for them to actually grow out? How fast does your grow. Typical hair growth rate is 1/8 inch per month for someone with healthy hair.

Hey thanks for the reply and sorry it took so long to get back to you, and my hair is notorious for growing slowly lol in school people used to say i got one haircut a year lmao. I reckon I should have some good growth in the next two months then, again cheers for getting back to me.

Man i can understand you, after 4 month i had amazing freaking great result , i was above the clouds, i used to shed close to 0 , yes its correct zero!!! during application of foam, in shower, pillow, thirst nothing!! but starting from beginning of the april, i realized few hairs shedding during the days, beginning of the may i realized i was losing the ground. now as of today i am pretty much at the baseline, I pretty much changed nothing but adding lipogaine 0.5 ml per day (never stopped rogaine or decreased the dosage) into my regimen, now i realize it was suicide. it gave me amazing flakes , irritation, inflammation, so i stopped using it but i believe it was late as it already induced the shedding phase , i shedded crazy, NO GAINS left on my head . It is really tough for me now, but just waiting for the to pass, as its really hard to see my hair in such situation again.

No you have to stick to your regimen throughtout the shed, this has happened to many people and I have read people complain about a second shed often. I have stuck to it through the shed and now my hair is back to almost 0 hairs shed a day. I am hoping in the next couple months I can make my progress back and more.

Happy for you as you shed 0 hair again!! despite the fact that 2 months have alraedy passed with crazy shedding, rate has not even decreased. i am scared man , i am scared . sadly i hit the baseline just one month , i am insecure and have no desire to go out again, after spending my third and fourth months usage of rogaine like a i am in paradise. i am sticking to treatment, but it sucks man it sucks, i will update my situation in this post. hopefully by that time you will see your progress

hey man if it helps my shed has come back and i know it really sucks to be going thru this but it could be worse, if hairloss is ur biggest problem then u should think yourself lucky. Gonna stick with my regimen and hopefully come late July/August the shed has stopped and reversed. Just remember the hair lost in a shed grows back thicker and stronger.

HEy man i am really sorry!! trust me there is literally no one except me can understand you very well. i could not stand and end up shaving my head again. Going through shedding after regaining what i had lost made me felt devastating!! you said its gonna grow back stronger. Thats only thing i am desperately waiting for. Hopefully we will be able to post good news in this post.
the hair i was shedding(still am but not so noticable since its shaved) was like hairs with different lengths attached white yellowish bulb(its called club hair) . During the growth phase i have not had any irritation, flake or inflammation whatsoever! but when shedding started all these things followed.

Shaving my head reduced my stress little bit. i willnot give up for sure still sticking to same regimen hoping for best

I've had two big sheds (6 and 10 months after starting finasteride) and both times, the hair grew back thicker and better looking. I honestly think the setbacks have been nothing compared to the ground I've gained. I'd stick it out.

After each shed your hair grows back thicker and stronger. I am now experiencing a third shed but can see that my hair has come back thicker since the secomd shed. You have to be really patient and stick to your regimen.

well known feeling to me. But we have nothing to do apart from to continue being on same treatment. If it has worked once, it means it can work again.
Update about my situation my 2nd shedding started in April and i have lost all the gains for sure but continued anyway! now i see inflammation reduced drastically and new hairs sprouting all over my head, not sure i will catch up my preshed situation but lets see

so panicking is not helpful at all. we all go through same thing , just keep doing what you do and wait for shedding to be stopped. only time will tell whether its temporary or you lose the battle. Generally its just 2nd shedding phase that you need ride out
