Sudden Rapid Decline, Should I Add minoxidil

Hi!

After 14 years of keeping my hair on Finasteride without any sign of worsening, I suddenly had a rapid decline. In May I saw that my hair was thinner on the front. I first thought that taking finasteride every other day like I did since last year might be the reason for it. But my hair got thinner and thinner. I always had diffuse hair loss all over the top, but until this year i still had basically a full head of hair. Also my front is growing much slower than the rest of my hair in the last 2 months.

I added Ru in August and started taking dutasteride 2x a week in addition to finasteride. However my hair loss still continuous. My hair is really thin now especially at the hair line. I'm at a loss why this occurs. I heard of the effectiveness of finasteride decreasing after time, but to me it seems this loss is like I have stopped taking finasteride all together.

So, the only thing I still have is adding minoxidil. I was always glad that I could avoid the topical route and keep my hair with finasteride. But now it seems this is the only proven hair loss remedy I'm not using. And the hope for some regrowth is also there.

Also, I'm considering dropping RU, because it didn't show any sign of stopping my hair loss in 4 months. And the success stories on it are anecdotal at best.

But will it even do me any good? If my hair loss isn't stopped, what good will minoxidil do? I'm really at my wits end, 14 years with great success and suddenly a rapid loss that is staggering!

Hey i know it's not what you asked but i noticed you implied you've been on finasteride for 14 years. What if any side effects did you have?

With regards to your situation i can personally vouch for minoxidil potentially giving you at least 1-2 years of very good regrowth if you happen to be a responder. My hairloss started aged 23, i took regaine aged 38 and reckon i went back to how i was aged 28. Go for it.

Exactly this, I don´t see a reason for you to add Minoxidil if you are still losing so much. I wouldn´t drop the RU, I am sure it is doing its job (if applied properly!), but it may not be enough. Thought about uping your dosage? Maybe RU and dutasteride need some more time.

Just noticed, we have a very similiar regimen, are you using keto? It is probably not gonna help a lot, but it is cheap and can be a small bonus.

You might add CB0301, another topical anti-androgen. Though it is very expensive and still rather unknown.
