Suffering from constant fatigue and tiredness, is it finasteride?

Hi guys,

I've been on 1.25 mg of finasteride daily for about 2 months. I have been lucky to get none of the real horrible side effects that I have read on here.

The only possible side I have is that I now sleep at least 12 hours a day and feel run down. I wouldn't exactly call it "brainfog" but it feels like I'm not sleeping very well.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had something similar to this.

I'll be sure to post of some pictures soon.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I should mention I ordered from inhouse.

I doubt it's the finasteride. Most people who truly are getting fatigue from finasteride are going to be seeing other side effects too. It seems doubly rare that you would get the very, very rare side effects without getting sexual ones first.

Honestly, it might just be that you have gotten on a bad sleep schedule. I know if I sleep more than usual regularly, it's hard for me to break that habit, and I'm more tired in general that usual.

If I were you I'd try to do three things:

1) Exercise
2) Cut out all caffiene
3) Wake up with an alarm clock at a specific time each day and try to get down to about 7-8 hours of sleep. You'll feel better once your body adjusts.

Sounds like its affecting your hormones... like the man said above do more exercise on a weekly basis and less caffeine will help too.

If there's still no improvement after a few weeks, then definitely begin cutting your dosage.

Personally I find any 5-AR inhibiting drug causes me to get very drowsy and lethargic, it's a well known side effect and part of the trade-off.

i agree with the two guys above me. it could easily be a placebo effect in that you were and are worried about the fatigue and tricked your body into thinking youve got that - but then you'd probably be more likely to get the other sides as well so i'm not sure.

you could just develop a meth habit to counteract it lol

I'm sure a Doctor would prescribe amphetamine for that if he could, and then a pde-5 inhibitor like v**** to deal with his dick not working and so on, and then blame everything on psychology when his body crash.

And for the topic, TGM have some good points.

It's called "life", my friend, and some times it sucks.

Get exercise, preferably at least 30 minutes a day (light cardio)
Eat healthy (not obsessively healthy- just cut down on sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and saturated fat. And don't smoke.)
Socialize more. And this is important: studies in rats have actually shown that rats who socialize on a regular basis have better neuro- functioning than no- socializing rats.
(By socializing I don't mean "go out and get drunk and have one night stands"- I mean spend more time with people who you like, and who stimulates you emotionally and intellectually.

If you still feel this way: get your blood sugar, TSH, Hb/ferritin, b12- levels tested.

If those are normal, consider dropping the finasteride.

thats not at all i was saying, my point about meth was obviously a joke and if youre denying the existence of the placebo effect in psychology then, well, you're an idiot.
i might have completely misinterpreted what you said though, so my bad if thats the case.

Chill. I'm right there with you ;) I don't think it's placebo, although one should never underestimate the power of placebo. A lot things may cause the trouble OP is experiencing. I don't think it's finasteride which causes this either, but finasteride is a potent drug which affects the body both physically and psychologically in some cases, so it's wise to ask.
