I've seen praise for Revivogen on this site, but I'm reluctant to use something so expensive. Is it reasonable to think sunflower oil, which also has linoleic acid, could be as effective, considering I'd apply it more liberally?

check out my zix thread, revivogen is essentially b6 and zinc - it's much cheaper to mix yourself.

The answer to my question appears to be "no". Here's what https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/members/ccs.9632/ said more than 10 years ago. “Oils are 3 fatty acids bonded to a glycerol molecule. There have been studies that show that only the free fatty acids have anti-androgenic properties. Furthermore, flaxseed oil does not contain gamma linolenic acid. Only borage seed oil does (even primrose has a very low amount).

If it was that easy, Revivogen would go out of business.”
