Hi Gals,

Just discovered this site!

I was diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium over a year ago but my hair loss is still occuring at the same rate.

My HMO Doctor said my iron levels at 17 were not low enough for hair loss, but from what I read it can be.

Anyways, I read that silica/horsetail extract can be good for hair loss. Can anyone recommend a specific dosage of this and what brand they use?

If anyone has used other supplements with success pls post:)

Thank you!

Hi, it's not your iron level that counts, its your iron stores...you need to know your ferritin levels. Ferritin level below 40 = hair loss, between 40 and 70 = no more hair loss nor new growth, above 70 and you should see new hair growth (after some time). Also when taking iron, take with vit C, and l-lysine as both help the absorption of iron. Don't take milk or wholegrains within an hour before or after taking iron since they inhibit the uptake of iron. If you want to take silica you can get a liquid form called Q Silica Gel which is mixed with water and taken orally. Good luck.
