Swelling of the Upper Face

Last week i woke up, and my entire face (cheeks up), was swollen, red, and itchy. The next day was worse, even my eyelids were swollen, but after a couple hours being out of bed, the swelling would go down, but still itchy and red.

I had been on Propecia for about 4 months, and started Rogaine Foam 3 weeks earlier. I stopped both and went to the doctor, who told me to stop both, and gave me anti-histamies. And told me if it goes down, than in a week to start going back on, one at a time.

The swelling and stuff has gone away, and i'm about to go back on Propecia. But i'm wondering what it was from, because i was on it for 4 months, even the Rogaine foam, i had no strange effects for 3 weeks.

I read that you should take propecia with a full glass of water, i had not been doing that for a long time. It also says on this site, that swelling of the face is a side effect.

I don't know if it's from the foam, cause i had no swelling or itchyness on my temples or scalp, (where i was putting the foam)

I'm just wondering what it was from, and how to make sure it doesnt happen again, it was not a pleasant experience.

Thanks

could be allergic reaction, the site says that face swelling is an indication of allergic reaction, i cant possibly see what else it is

yeah.. just weird that i didn't react until 4 months, something me or the doctor can't figure out.

how noticeable is it? Also, did the Doctor say it was an allergic reaction?

it was very noticeable, my friend asked me if i got punched in the face, all red and swollen.
the Doctor never figured out for sure what it was, but thought it was allergic.
I went back on propecia 6 days ago, and no swelling has come back, next week i'll go back on the foam.

yah really sounds like a reaction, maybe it was just coincidental and had nothing to do with your treatments

well i went back on the foam 2 days ago, and the swelling and redness is starting to show again. I guess I'll go see some doctor, i guess i'm alergic to something in it? Sucks...

yeah man, sounds like an allergic reaction. I had a bad reaction to foam because i think some of the residue got into my eyes at night, it was really strange. I started Dr. Lees minoxidil yesterday and so far so good but im keeping my fingers crossed. You might want to consider dr lees stuff. Also, are you still on propecia?

I realized that it was actually the residue from the foam that got into my eyes which caused the reaction. First time i applied it i put too much on and a lot of residue got into my hair which rubbed onto my pillow and it got into my eyes. Tried it again and got no bad reaction. Lees i find leaves a bit less residue so im just sticking with that.
