Hi all,
Mid March-mid July I have used 2% minoxidil once a day from rogaine and got a little bit regrowth.
From mid July - now I switched to lipogaine 2% twice a day. And now I realized that I have been shedding quite a lot of short hair (general terminal hair shedding reduced). Can it be that minoxidil from lipogaine is not working? Or is it actually better and I am loosing weak gains from rogaine?
With lipogaine I have also noticed less forehead hair...

What’s inside the Lipogaine plain minoxidil? Yes shedding can happen due to switching brands.

It's water, glycerin, ethanol, 2% minoxidil, saw palmetto, fatty acids, beta-sitosterol, oleic acid, gamma & linolenic acid, biotin, polyphenol, niacin, biotiny-tripeptide, vitamin B6.
I was just thinking that at the end of the day 2% should still act as 2% no matter which brand..

Good responders shed hair initially. I have used Lipogaine before and it did work. It stopped my hair loss and I tried it alone (no finasteride/dutasteride) to really see its efficacy.

Unfortunately my response to these treatments in the past just stops my hair loss, but no new regrowth. Coincidentally, I never shed hair on any of the Big 3, which is enough evidence for me to think I won’t see regrowth. I think that the large majority of regrowth success comes from people who had an initial big shed.

I am giving it another shot, this time with dutasteride and 15% minoxidil.

By themselves yeah. 2% vs 2% should show the same results. But Lipogaine is not just 2% minoxidil. They use a blend of herbs too.

“A proprietary herb blend of DHT blockers with azetinol, saw palmetto extract, beta-sitosterol, oleic acid, linolenic acid.” - Per their website

Rogaine does not add any of that to their product. So your shed could just be a response to the new blend and it could mean you will regrow hair.

Out of curiosity, did you shed when you first got on Rogaine?

That explains why as you used plain Rogaine and then switched to lipogaine that contains other ingredients. I have read stories over the years when people switch minoxidil brands just like medication they shed, also to add the Lipogaine has other ingredients which can also contribute to the shedding…
