I have been on finasteride for 7 month's now and have not regrown much but have not lost anything either. Would any of you thing that I should switch to dutasteride now? Or give it the full year.? Any advice would be great.
In my opinion, maintenance on finasteride is a success, if it's keeping your hair intact then stick with it mate. If you want regrowth on top of that you could consider adding rogaine foam instead of the minoxidil 5% as some people have got better results with that. I'd be happy for a regime that provides maintenance myself though!
Thanks for the replies, I have continued to stick with finasteride and will assess and the end of the year. Good luck to all of us. I have added pics, these are all current, I will be adding before pics as well. Recently the front has started to thin more , I started a solid nw2 and now am a nw2 diffused. The crown is staying in tact and dense. FYI I am 36 years old
I'm 43 and am currently an NW3v. I'm currently using the lasercomb (am considering returning it due to minimal success, if any) and nizoral 1% with JASON Biotin shampoo during my off days. I'm considering going straight to dutasteride...Good idea?? Any suggestions??
I haven't tried finasteride yet. It seems like a lot of guys start off with finasteride and then switch to dutasteride. That's why I'm curious about trying it out right from the get go. Any suggestions?
Hey it is alot stronger than finasteride. You could try it and if you get sides switch to finasteride. I guess it could not hurt but again I have not tried it yet.
It's about 20% better than finasteride 5mg in terms of regrowth... CCS claims it's even better than finasteride 1mg but I haven't seen comparative data. dutasteride 0.5mg sides were in the same ball park as finasteride 5mg in a six month, phase II trial. dutasteride inhibits both forms of 5AR which is a potential concern as 5AR1 is found in brain tissue. However, the drug is licensed for BPH so I doubt that it is 'dangerous'.
judging from your pics propecia junkie i think your hair looks amazing. i think you should be just happy to maintain that for another 10 years because I dont see realistically where you can get much growth since finasteride nor dutasteride will work on the temples once they been lost for a while. your hair is better then most 16 year olds that are on here. i would personally stick with propecia a full year because at 7 months your hair can be still changing a alot with sheds especially because your hair is longer its harder to see regrowth when new hairs are coming in.
Thanks for the kind words Phish, I appreciate the advise. I will do just that because I have been reading alot of posts and it seems most people don't see results untill after 7 months. Good Luck to you
That's good to hear Beaner thanks! I suppose it just varies with everyone. Maybe due to being 36, it will take longer for me than just a year. But I will just continue and see what happens. Good luck to you
