I just realised that my crown has been thinning while I have been on finasteride 1mg daily for 3 years. I didn't check it for a while because my hairline was doing ok so I assumed finasteride was maintaining my hair. I don't know if finasteride has even done anything for me because judging by family history, most of the men maintain a slightly thin hairline till their 30s while the crown rapidly thins out in their mid to late 20s. It seems like I am heading the same way.

I have ordered my 6 month supply of dutasteride, should I start taking it right away and throw away my remaining finasteride pills or introduce dutasteride slowly? I'm not worried about sides because I didn't get any bad ones on finasteride. I am thinking that I should just start taking it as soon as it arrives.

That's what i did and had no adverse effects. I also didn't see any benefit from dustateride after a few years so went back to finasteride. Its just a slow progression until you have plenty of medication but no hair.

For me personally dutasteride accelerated the thinning for 1.5 years. Its because it boost T too much which causes balding. Yes T is an androgen too not just dht. Thats why you need estrogen to nuke T and dht. The idea that T dont cause balding is pure bullshit

Do you naturally have high T levels?

I would stay on finasteride and introduce the dutasteride slowly. One capsule a day (in addition to daily finasteride) for the first 6 months (preferably 12 months), and then assess. If you see progress then you can keep the dose as is. If not, add two capsules a week to your daily finasteride and then wait again for 6-12 months. And so on.
