Taking Avodart + Finasteride Together?

I've been on finasteride now for almost two years. Up until the last couple of month's it was working amazingly well, but lately I'm seeing some very aggressive recession. I've just ordered Avodart and will be adding it to my regime and soon as it arrives.

I don't want to completely make the switch from finasteride to Avo, and I don't want to take Avo every day because of the sides. I got absolutely battered with finasteride sides for the first 5 months so I'm almost guaranteed to get them if I take Avo daily.

Is anyone here currently using a combination of the two? I'm currently on 1mg of finasteride once a day and I'm thinking of adding 0.5 of Dutasteride every 2nd-3rd, while still taking finasteride. Has anyone done something similar and achieved good results?

I was on finasteride for 4 years. Switched to dutasteride last November. Was on it for 5 months and then switched back to finasteride.

Not sure if it made a difference but I was worried about sides.

I'm taking it twice a week for now though, while I take finasteride every day.

I do see it being a problem tbb, probably less effective than dutasteride everyday... Both drugs work in almost an identical way, apart from dutasteride killing both types of 5ar.

It's not like you're using two wildly different drugs.

However that's not to say you'll end up keeping up the same level of hairloss prevention, it depends on how much that extra 5ar type is boosting you... I know from my experience dutasteride gives me thickening like finasteride couldn't even dream of, so you might drop to some sort of finasteride baseline, or closer to it than you are now.

Were the sides libido related? because dutasteride sides in that department are almost identical to finasteride. I would say just make the switch to dutasteride completely imo and see how you fair.

Libido related and other side effects also. The mood changes were the worst part, I felt so low for months. Minor things were low libido, brain fog and puffy nipples(which I still have but aren't very noticeable).

My supply just arrived yesterday and I've taken my first dose. I've decided to stay on the finasteride daily and take Avodart every third day as I've read about decent results doing it this way.

I dont think I could afford to take Avodart daily anyway as its a tad bit pricey. That and I've a two year supply of finasteride to get through.
