Taking dutasteride and finasteride together?

Hello, I am still unsure about how to start with dutasteride. In the long run I will take 0.5mg a day, but I want to switch slowly in order to avoid a massive shed so I thought whether it would be smart to take dutasteride EOD at first and take finasteride every day additionaly. Any experience with that strategy?

I take dutasteride EOD and it's fine. I also take Grape Seed Extract as an aromatase inhibitor.

Well, I buy fincar online as well even at the same Internet pharmacy. But i know that my finasteride from cipla is real since it has worked before but I am not sure about the dutasteride from Dr. Reddy´s. Let´s see....

This maybe a stupid and ignorant question - but I presume taking both these meds together will block the majority of your DHT level. Sure this will be great for the hair.... but won't it cause some pretty nasty side effects to your body too?? (i.e. totally kill your sex drive, higher the risk of gynecomastia etc.)

Apart from the reduction of DHT, is it actually safe to have such a high amount of DHT blockers circulating in your body at the same time?

no...it doesnt work like that at all....the finasteride will not be doing anything as far as dht levels are concerned since dutasteride the more potent dht inhibitor will inhibiting 90%+ of you serum dht...they do not work synergisticly.

if you were gettin real gsk avodart you would not need finasteride...it wouldn't provide any additional dht suppression.

The reason i recommended that routine is ONLY if you suspect that your dutasteride is fake (since most on here are buying it from online pharmacies) so that way your at least somewhat covered b/c your taking finasteride...assuming your getting that from a reliable pharmacy.

I hope you understand what im trying to say, i know I didnt do a real good job describing it.

liver overdose? why your taking one pill a day....secondly in trials people were taking up to 5mg day of dutasteride...A DAY! with no adverse side effects.

I know older guys that are taking multiple medications a day with no problems.

If your liver is healthy, it will not be a problem.

Think about all the drinking college students do...much worse for your liver.

It is unlikely that taking both together would cause a liver problem. Drugs such as Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), Propecia, Ibuprofen, Claritin, Zantac, and many other drugs are routinely prescribed by doctors at 2-3 times the OTC dose. I would be much more worried about any synergistic effect between the medications blocking an excessive amount of DHT. I don't think there have been many safety studies on people taking 2.5mg of Avodart (essentially blocking all DHT) for any significant period of time. Mixing 0.5mg of Avodart and 1 mg of Propecia may have similar effects on your Type 2 DHT levels. This is why I'm kind of worried about taking both together for several months, but I am considering doing the same thing you mentioned.

but dutasteride gets you to finasteride inhibiition levels after only a couple of doses. this is why using a loading dose is unnecessary imo.
