My friend uses Topical 0.1% Finasteride and 1mg orally every other day. I use Topical Finasteride alone. Although he claims to have better success using the combo, some use oral and RU for better results.

Can I please ask you, Im using topical finasteride 0.1% alone aswell - did you notice any positive changes with topical finasteride? And how long do you use it? Im using it for almost 4 months now, like 2 weeks ago I experienced some increased shedding (which decreased after some days but Im not 100% sure yet if it still continues or not). I can see that some of my hair are maybe a little stronger after topical finasteride, but after that increased shedding I can feel that I lost almost noticeably density in my hair and frontal area seems more sparse than before. So at the moment I have got contradictory feelings whether its on the right track or not.

I been using this mixture since 2010, what’s your full hairloss regime? Also where you sourcing the Topical Finasteride? Legit stuff or some eBay quack......

15% Minoxidil
0.1% Finasteride
5% Azelaic Acid
0.25% Progesterone
0.025% Tretinoin
0.1% Hydocortisone

I have topical finasteride prescribed from doctor and they making it for me in pharmacy. I only have this topical finasteride 0.1% so far in my regime, I was thinking also about adding minoxidil mixture into topical finasteride, but I wanted to know first if finasteride will even work for me, so thats why I started it alone - I also used minoxidil before, but with no results.
I also have some seborrheic dermatitis and due to sensitive skin I only have to apply topical finasteride 1x in day instead of 2x in day as they recommended me in pharmacy. If I use it 2x in day, my skin will start itch and become oily.
The main problem so far with topical finasteride is that it made my situation rather worse overall than better, theres not yet sign of improvement in density (its actually worse) or at least some reduced hair loss. I know very well about that initial shedding phases with finasteride/minoxidil, however it seems also that Im shedding my hair even in the sides at back (under vertex) where I do not apply topical finasteride...

Might have induced some Telogen Effluvium. How long have you been on it? You also could be allergic to the PG solution most topicals come in.

I use topical finasteride for almost 4 months, increased shedding started like 2-3 weeks ago. It seems like it decreased a little at the moment, but I probably cant say yet it stopped. The version of topical finasteride I have is a foam version (its not liquid or gel or so), so I dont know if there is any propyleneglycol in it, but it is true that sometimes I have some itch over the scalp, but I cant tell for 100% if its due to topical finasteride or due to seborrheic dermatitis... but I think I wouldnt say that Im allergic to PG
However, if it really caused Telogen Effluvium, the hair should grow back anyway in most cases within the time, right?
I might also mention (if it had any connection), like a month ago I had haircut and the new barber I was at really pulled the hairs during cutting to the point I had to warn her few times that it hurts me and if she could be more gentle (I have longer hairs), so next time I will go anywhere else probably for haircut

Yes MAA sell the lotion which I also use you can find their website on my thread I posted. No sides I also use Topical Finasteride which is more powerful than progesterone, but I have this mixed into my lotion. I also use their progesterone leave in conditioner.
