Was going through my old profile pics on FB and this is what I found. My 16 year old hair in its full glory. The contrast between then and now is just horrific. God how I wish I could have it back. The pain is real.

That is some awesome hair.

Related: A year or so back I showed my mom my id photo taken when I was 17 (and still with some hair). She asked me whose picture it was. I died a little that day.

Asians beat Anglo Saxon origin hair. But ever seen an Italian's hair? Put a Mediterranean girl with black hair and an Asian girl with black too, u can spot the Asian from behind as its thinner and lighter looking. This is well known here. They are hot too but I'm not well into them.

I reckon Latin guys/girls will also have superb hair due to their Italian/Spanish/Portuguese blood.

Well, we all settle for a fullish head of hair either way! Do u plan on a hair transplant some point when you've saved up?

He should do something similar to what Fred did. Made a good difference.

Well this is my head back in mid 2014 and it's only gotten worse since then. Can't believe how things have gone downhill in just a few years time.

If I was to copy that style again I'd look horrible!

Not really. I'm doing a combover .. yes the combover. I'm just not ready to let it all go. I'm an Norwood 4v so I leave the hair on top long and with the combover I get decent coverage under low light. Under strong light it's a nightmare. Basically it's working for now except for my crown which is pretty much peach fuzz.

It takes a while to let it go. I was like you. Then a day came when I caught a glimpse of myself (when I was about 21) under strong light in a mirror. And I was forced to accept I was bald, and that the battle had been lost. I stopped rogaine a few days after.

Yeah I know that that day is approaching very soon. I can see almost my whole scalp these days under strong light. I've been on Dutasteride for more than a year and for some mysterious reason it just didn't lower my DHT. I've changed to another Finasteride brand now as a last resort but that's about it. The day is approaching and I can do nothing about it.

Looks tiny *** bit receded even back then.

You seem to have a serious obsession with pinning recession on everybody that doesn't show any signs of baldness, including yourself. Seriously, if you see any recession in that picture you have issues far beyond hair loss.

*Bump*

RoyD, I'm sorry about your hair, what has happened to you has been an absolute devastation. I do not know much about your story like when you succumbed to male pattern baldness, what treatments you've used and when you started them. The only thing that I'm aware of is that you're taking Dutasteride, it the medicine doesn't seem to be working well for you, unfortunately. Do you mind telling me a little about yourself such as your family history of hair loss and the whole situation?

It always baffles me how little care is given towards hair loss from the medical community, especially the 'cosmetic' ones.

Ok I'll try to be as brief as I can. I started losing my hair when I turned 18. That was in 2011 and by December 2012 I started on Minoxidil 2% and then Minoxidil 5% a few months later. By June 2013 I began finasteride and increased the dose to 5mg with no effect until I stopped the finasteride and began using dutasteride by December 2013. So it was more than a year I was on Dutas a few months back and all this while I had 0 results being on these meds so I began doubting the meds.

I took a blood test for DHT and the results were shocking. My DHT level was absolutely normal despite being on dutasteride (Dr. Reddy's Dutas) for more than a year and taking it everyday. Another PSA test which I did was inconclusive. So after that I went to 5mg finasteride again but still no results. I've done another test to see if my DHT is low on finasteride and I'm waiting for the results now. When I posted it on the forum Wolfpack and a few others didn't believe me when I said that the meds were fake. They were more adamant that I was a non responder. I can understand not responding in terms of hair growth but not responding in terms of DHT??? Just seems strange. Right now I just feel so frustrated.

Anyways coming to my family history there's no man either in my father's or mother's side that began losing their hair before 35. My uncles and grandfathers had reasonably good hair and though a lot of men are including my dad are balding non of them began anywhere as early as me. My dad himself began losing his hair after 40 or 45. That being said my sister has FPB although not extreme but I believe that's because she has a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome.

So that's my story in a nutshell.
