Tescicular Questions Finasteride (ache)

Ive been on finasteride for only 4 days at 0.5mg a day and my balls hurt! I have pain down there quite a lof of the time.

Its not that bad of a pain, just uncomfortable. My tescicles seem like they dropped a bit lower too

I read that this goes away after a few days of taking it? I didnt take my dose today in fear of it worsening,

I would like to continue on it to keep my hair, but im scared that it could lead to worse things.

As for the ED thats fine, im still fully functional.

I searched on forum for this subject, but there is mixed opinions.

Did anyone ride this pain out? Should i dis-continue? Is this NORMAL? :shakehead:

Please help, any input on this matter would be a great help!

I'm going through this as well. Let me know if it stops for you. It has gotten better for me on a lower dose, but I can still feel it from time to time. I'm hoping it's part of the adaptation... possibly the testes responding to the increased demand for testosterone? Just speculation.

Mine feels like a general slight ache with a slight burn to it particularly after I lift (my testosterone shoots up after i lift prob)

Best of luck as teste pain is extremely annoying.

I read somewhere that if there is pain, the medication should be stopped for a week or two and restarted again later.

I was on full dose of finasteride for 10 days and I quit, mainly because of the pain. 2 week later I started taking half a dose and I didnt have any pain.

Also, try tight underwear, something with support. It makes a big difference.

I didnt take my dose yesterday and this morning I feel a lot better down there. They have also stopped hanging so low.

Im going to take your advice ali, and try again in a week or so maybe at a lower dose again.

But if the pain comes back Im just not going to stick at it.

There is more important things than hair, and I wont risk it getting anything worse below the belt just to keep it.

I will keep you guys updated.

I had a dull ache for 2 weeks. Then it just went.

yeah mine's going away. It comes back a little if I do a lot of walking or if I work out. I think if I stop that for a couple of days it will be gone though.

Wear tight underwear!!! it makes a difference.

I have a few y-fronts for sports, and they help with the ache.

i had it for the first 1-2 weeks... i just continued taking the finasteride and it dissapeared... no more nut ache...

p.s. i lowered the dose from 1 mg to 0.5mg also due to cutting costs....

UPDATE: Today I took my second EOD 0.25 mg Propecia dose. The testicular pain has nearly completely subsided. I got some mild pain after running to class today. I also am PLEASED to report that any ED I previously experienced was either in my head or has completely subsided. Not sure about sex drive as I have been busy getting back into the swing of med school.

As always, I will keep you posted.

well, ive been off finasteride for 3 days now after experiencing the ball ache, I just couldnt handle the ache down there.

And the ache is still threre after 3 days off.....its kinda getting me worried now.

Ache has subsided after 6 days for me, but I've been EOD on .25 finasteride for the last 3.

It took me a few days. I could give you the exact number now. I'd say somewhere between 3 to 5 days.

I will wait until the 29th, thats 2 weeks since last dose to try again. Going to half the dose to 0.25...lower doses seem to work for some people so, i'll see what happens then.

Will keep you updated after I start.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether decreasing the dose actually cured the ball ache or if my body just adjusted. There is no control group in a case study (my story) so it's hard to say that the pain wouldn't have gone away if I had just continued the 1 mg/day regimen. It is certain now that the ball ache has dissipated, although IT ALWAYS RETURNS when I drink alcohol. It's really weird and makes me feel a little crazy.

Update -

So I started taking finasteride again at 0.5 EOD..

Surprise, surprise ball ache again

But this time not as bad and not as frequent. I rode it out and now It seems to have sub-sided!

I have no other side effects too! I hope it continues this way, I will not up my dose.

What did I learn?

I learn't even if you experiance side effects, quit the med....wait for sides to vanish....try again at a lower dose when feeling better!

Maybe this advice and help some people out.
