Yes, I do like gardening. While going through my hair loss regimen, I sort of feel like a gardener... carefully washing and rinsing my hairs, making sure they are well fed (minoxidil) and protected from invaders (spironolactone) and making sure that the soil is properly cultivated (nizoral and diet). Not to mention the gardener's habit of meticulously inspecting his crops, and taking great pride when I see seedling hairs sprout from the surface of my upper temples.

And the upper temple growth has been about it for me, so far. I've only been on for 1.75 months so I'm sure it is far too early to jump to conclusions, but there are definite signs in the upper temple area. There is one funny thing about it. I have a widow's peak pattern, high temples. My right-side temple has always been slightly more receeded than my left temple, which I hear is normal. The funny thing is that the new hairs are thickening on only my upper left-side temple, and nothing on the right. Methinks my hairloss pattern is not symmetrical and perhaps the right side is a bit further along the male pattern baldness road. Nevertheless, good sign!

I'm really taking the minoxidil to keep and/or thicken my widow's peak, the Isthimus of Panama-shaped stretch of hair in the center of my forehead, you know, Cape Kevin Costner as someone once described it. I had a heavy shed right before starting my regimen, when I noticed thinning in Cape Kevin Costner I immediately began minoxidil. Another light shed in week 2, and that was it! No other side effects at all, and I have very easily worked the minoxidil application into my daily routine. I'm hoping that my minoxidil will affect the hairs that regrow after my intial shed 7 weeks ago, but it will take another month or so to see the results. In any effect, after 7 weeks of treatment I can say that at the very least my hair looks exactly the same as it did on week one. But, it will take several more months before I get a good assessment.

As for REAL gardening, yes, I enjoy that as well. I just got a special batch of seeds from a private online auction the Columbian Policia Militar held of seized property... they came from Pablo Escobar's personal garden and can't wait to get them into the hydroponics. Kidding... but ah, the good ol' days...
