I know some of you see a hair transplant as a no brainer but I'm really mulling over getting a hair transplant and I'm wondering how other people feel about them.

The first issue is actually cost - for the hair transplant I want in Thailand I would need around 6,000$ which is no small chunk of change for me. I can now save up $400 per month so theoretically I can afford the procedure in a year and a half. My main gripe is that while most of my fellow work mates are spending that cash on bikes and travel I have to spend it on having a normal head of hair.

The second issue is that it may not be one transplant needed. If I continue losing hair then I will need a 2nd five or so years later (and have to save more cash).

The third issue is the scar - I shave my sides really short and I'm scared it will be obvious. It seems to be hit and miss on who gets a scar and a lot of surgeons are inconsistent.

The forth issue is that they don't always work and that sometimes only a third of the donor hairs come through which means you have to get yet another hair transplant. I know 2 regular posters who this has happened to.

And yet finally they can look so good and I hear and see some people reflecting how they have changed their lives for the better and that its the best thing they ever did.

You get cases like this:

I thought you were pretty much just gonna shave it, bro? When it got too sh*t.

Jesus Christ though this guy:

Now he can say "I like kids" and women think he has paternal instincts, instead of on a register.
As you can see I'm on the fence.

Bald looks okay on me and I would still live an okay life bald but do I want to do that?

Would I rather have hair??

Yes, of course I would because I love having hair.

I'm curious to hear what other people think about it in relation to themselves

I will visit Erdogan next year if my hairloss won't progress

Posted this in the other thread;

I was considering getting a forehead reduction/hair transplant done the line. I have a massive 5 head and I always have to rock this shaggy bowl cut kind of haircut to hide it. I can already tell that my naturally high hairline is going to make any future recession look a lot worse than it is (make me look like a Norwood 3 when I'm only a Norwood 2, etc). I think being able to do a hair cut like an undercut would really boost my overall aesthetics. As long as finasteride keeps my hair the same for the next few years, I will go through with it.

You have no fears about needing another hair transplant after the first?

Or about the scar?

1. of course I have a fear, but for now, I see Jude Law pattern on myself
2. FUE

I think we have same hairloss pattern

I think we do.

Norwood 3 right now with diffuse on top but it doesn't look that bad when grown out beyond two inches.

I'm not over 'the cliff' yet but may have to consider a hair transplant within the next few years

If I was in your position I'd go to Cinik in Istanbul for FUE and he charges like $2000 I think? Still better than 95% of US FUE surgeons and very consistent.

At least when (if) Turkey removes the US Visa ban.

FUT with Dr Path? Considering the same myself though I'm diffuse nw2.5 with scalp showing through at the crown so I'm not sure I'd even be a decent candidate.

With regards to saving $400 per month, could you not improve upon that? According to this:

It's possible to save more than that but I don't know how realistic that is for the average teacher there.

He should get the f*** over to Istanbul then
British and living in Vietnam.

There's a very reputable hair transplant surgeon called Dr Path in Thailand

Example:

That's similar to my hair situation on the left - but when styled and dry looks better

Haha I know those two teachers :)

I earn 1,400 dollars per month and spend around 700-800 on monthly costs (need to save to fly home next summer as well for a break).

You can earn 2000 dollars but it means working 6 days a week.

I know of him, personally I would opt for a Turkish surgeon simply based on cost. Considering you're worried about two surgeries (which is very likely for ANYONE getting a transplant no matter how good) you're likely better off going for someone cheaper. Look into Cinik and Acar, you could afford two surgeries and still have money left over compared to Path and their results are just as consistent and impressive in my opinion. Nothing against Path, but if cost is a factor I'd consider this strongly, he isn't the best value surgeon in the world.

I know its petty but I don't want to do a 10 hour flight as its really difficult for me.

I may consider it though so thanks for the tip
