Hey All,

I've been on propecia for about 8 months now. So far it appears that my hair is thinning pretty bad on the front half of my scalp; but I'm sticking with the propecia with the hope that it'll eventually start working (is this a bad idea ?)

Anyways, my major problem in the past month is intense itching, pretty much exclusively in that thinning area. Is this a bad sign for how well propecia is working for me? And is there a good way of stopping the itch? I've been using nizoral 1% for months and it doesn't help; should I order 2%

Also, I'm thinking of starting Rogaine Foam. Will this stop the itch? If not, what should I try?

Thanks so much!

In my opinion if you been on propecia for 8 months and have not at least maintained your hair then I would drop propecia not unless you can afford financially and give it 1 year. I would try rogain foam next or other minoxidil products.

Stick to a year, Ive heard of people recovering at the 8th / 9th month period. Im on 7th month and still losing my hairline, im gonna give it 1 year if not more.

I am in the same boat as well. I just hit my 7th month and just the front part of my hair is still thinning and I get a REAL bad itch. I am going to stick it out for the year and then maybe switch to dutasteride. I also have read people after month 7 start getting results. Good Luck

To fix the itch try the following:

- rotate nizoral, TGEL and H&S
- Try Tricomin or Folligen
- Try Organic Apple Cider Viniger (pour on your scalp, let it stay for 15 mins and wash)
- Try Organic Emu Oil

- Try a good conditioner. I love Garnier Fructis 3 minute masque. Costs 2 bucks and literally KILLS the itch instantly!
