I'm sure some of you have experienced someone saying "just shave it bro" to you. How did you feel?

Today one of my close friends told me to just shave it and I went off on him. Angered me so much, mostly because he has a full head of hair, and I'm 19 so shaving it off will just make me look like a weak beta guy with feminine features. I didn't style my hair to hide any hairloss today when I went to meet my friends and one of them said it to me. I swear to God if my other friends didn't intervene I would have punched the hell out of him.

What do you guys do when you are in this situation?

I would look like one of the aliens out of Mars Attacks if I "justshaveditbro" - well, it's not that the convolutions of my brain show through my scalp, but the general shape of my head is represented below.

Bro..Keeping short hair is better than having balding hairs.
If one is above norwood 5.

Don't hate those who tells you to shave.
Guys that advise you to shave are the one that you need to Keep as close friends, never loose them.

There are far more people on Earth that will not care if you either live or die.

If they cared, they would tell them to get on treatment or get a hair transplant. Telling them to shave it is just sending their competition for pussy into early graves.

You think being raped is worse than being murdered?

Depends on how the murder is conducted, shooting someone in the head in my opinion isn't as bad as outright torturing someone sexually like a rapist.

I think most would rather be raped than murdered, but the one conducting the rape is more of a bad person unless the murderer deliberately inflicts more pain than necessary.

I guess I see where you're coming from but it's very f*****g annoying when they make it seem like it's no big deal. That's what I meant, if they were in my position they would know.

This is true but these well meaning people are still very ignorant of the profound life changing disfigurement produced by a shaved head.
No one wants to look like a mental patient on day release.
(no offence to any mental patients)

Lots of people don't know about hair transplant.
This can be one factor
Also cost are very high, many friends know the financial situation of each others.
That can be reason too.

Yes.
But sometimes friends are awesome thing.
Such little insults are acceptable,U attack my hair,i attack your other vulnerabilty.

As i aged from age 21 to 30,i lost many so called friends while those who were irritating like what OP said are still closer to me.

Hairloss problem is most difficult aesthetic problem to understand.
So expecting that our stupid ( :p) friends will understand this at beginning is not feasible.
Time will make them understand that hairloss is damn difficult problem.

Put nair in there shampoo.

That's my preferred method.

For women small concentration amounts that will induce shedding but not burn the scalp. A process that will turn them into a psychological mess, while not understanding the root cause.

For twinks dump the entire bottle in when you are invited over to there house for a party. There hair will be fried.

Complementary just shave it bro when you see them the following day after :D

It's just a polite and socially approved way to deal with the topic of balding. Easy to understand why too; it makes the speaker appear cool and not vain, and it lessens the mental burden of the listener in a lot of cases. Certainly not for us, but remember we are in a minority.

A lot of times, the guys (it's always guys) telling you this are subconsciously aware that hair gives them advantages. That, or they're bald and want to drag you down to their level. The fullheads sense it when they're in situations being compared to guys without hair, they know it sets them apart, that it elevates them. So telling you to just shave it is also a way to keep the competition down and to suppress your social potency. Like women telling their fat friend that they are beautiful and no right-thinking man would ever reject them. It's seldom done purposefully, rather it's the monkey inside us talking, an expression of our primal instincts.

So the conclusion is, in my opinion, that a true friend will tell you to hold on for dear life. That is someone who is willing to lay their reputation and social standing on the line to give you the truth. The "just shave it" guys are just going with the flow, they are doing what's acceptable and socially convenient, and following their advice has no advantages whatsoever for you.
This entire post was brilliant. Seriously. It articulated everything we all know and feel inside (baldite as well as fullhead) in a few short paragraphs.
