The MAIN reason why Merck should be sued for crimes against humanity

Beside the fact that they bribed the FDA to get Propecia approved and tried to hide the serious side effects, the real crime that Merck committed is that they flooded the marked with a poisonous drug and thereby PREVENTED A REAL ALTERNATIVE from being made. If Propecia was blocked because it is poisonous/unsafe, the field would have still been open, and we would have had a real regrowth alternative 15 years ago. Setipiprant or something similar that works would have come out a decade ago and you would all be NW1 right now with zero side effects.

I repeat: NW1, no side effects.

Merck will continue to enjoy billions in revenue because no one can touch them. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

The drugs been out for 23 years and there isn't one side effect existing tht isn't on the little pamphlet in the pill pack, underreported sides, yes definately.

Finasteride is not poison. Most people don't even experience sides. It's only in rare incidences to people have intolerable sides and decide to quit.

It's very very rare and very little proof that PFS happens. You can come on here and scream bloody murder but you have no basis for your claims.

I am always amused when people try to argue against SCIENTIFIC FACTS.

Look at this chart:

32210168_DHT_1.gif

It is a FACT that finasteride is an anti-androgen will OBLITERATE your DHT, which is an essential male hormone. It is also IMPOSSIBLE for any man not to feel the effect of low DHT, though effects may vary by person. DHT is in fact a more powerful androgen than testosterone itself, but you probably don't even know what "androgen" means.

Merck single-handedly poisoned an entire generation of men.

Lol. We've seen that chart a million times.. What's your point? Finasteride is not an anti androgen. It is a 5a reductase type 2 inhibitor. It reduces 65 percent of your dht. In a mature adult men this is mostly concentrated in the hair and prostate.

Get your facts straight. The fact is millions of men take this drug with absolutely no issues what so ever. I took it for 8.5 years without any issues. Then I quit and also continued to have no issues. Get over yourself.

You are either insane, ignorant, or a mole planted by Merck to spread misinformation. Either way, the importance of DHT cannot be downplayed. It is as important as testosterone.

He has enough anger and intelligence to troll people here that's for sure.

Propeciahelp started as a yahoo group and existed before I started taking finasteride back in 2003. His claims aren't new or groundbreaking. Yet millions of men continue to take the drug no problem for over 17 years now. If there was some big issue with the drug it would have been known back in the 90s. The only people that are against it are people that stumble across PFS and propeciahelp. It's basically nothing more than a conspiracy THEORY not based on truths or studies.

I stopped taking finasteride because of reading posts like
this joker and the media making big stories about long lasting side effects over 10 years after the drugs release. In retrospect propecias patent was up that same year so it certainly wasn't coincidental that this happened that way.

Well I'm bald now, and don't wish to take the drug again. But my life would have been a lot different had I kept on taking it... I'm at the point where I now recommend young men who are struggling with hair loss to go ahead and take the plunge. It will save your hair. Good day sir.

Dint u take finasteride for 4 years location? Are you all ****ed up??

Yes I took finasteride and even took dutasteride for years, and it gave me amazing regrowth. But I really thought it was harmless and started suffering from VERY poor sleep, anxiety, depression, etc, things that I considered to be imaginary illnesses that only weak people suffer from. I was healthy, high-testosterone and become afflicted with symptoms of low DHT. Claiming that low DHT symptoms are imaginary, despite the fact that they're documented is laughable. This is regardless how they are caused, low DHT causes real side effects.

I couldn't accept that a little 1mg pill could cause all my symptoms, so I refused to believe it. I started taking sleeping pills, and even took depression pills for a while, and anti-anxiety pills even. It was only after I stopped finasteride and felt "normal" again that I was able to put 2 and 2 together and realize I was poisoning myself. I also only then learned what an anti-androgen was, and what DHT's role is. Like most people, I thought it was just an evil hormone that made people go bald and that it needed to be eliminated.

This is all real talk, I speak from experience, and I laugh at anyone who dismisses finasteride's side effects. finasteride WILL cause low DHT, and if you are a man, and you are alive and breathing, low DHT WILL cause the associated side effects. Claiming that some people take something that causes low DHT and suffer no side effects is the epitome of stupidity.

One thing I'll say is that finasteride saved my hair, I would be bald today if not for it, and even though I stopped it over a year ago, my hair is thinning slowly, so I'm still reaping its benefits. But at what cost?

Forget about finasteride itself. What I am saying is that people need to be informed about what DHT is, what low DHT is, and how any anti-androgen will affect their DHT before they take it.

For some, it may be a necessary evil right now, but I cannot help but wish it was never released, because it would have cleared the way for safer drugs.

Also, no men can take finasteride safely. No such thing. The only variable is how severely they will be affected by the drop in DHT.

dude, no one disregards the fact that finasteride could give u sides, but in your own story you even say how you recovered and felt normal right after quitting. We all understand that finasteride could give u sides and that altering hormones isnt some recreational activity. WE want to keep our hair, so we work with what we got. Yes, it is very normal that after years of taking the drug that it caused you this effect. your biggest mistake was taking meds to help counter sides of other meds. Now the effect you had is very different to others, i know people PERSONALLY who have been on finasteride for 5-7 years and are not showing any signs of depression/emotional distress. Hormones work differently in each person, which is why someone like me who took finasteride, got gyno when i was taking the full dose, does not mean every user will get gyno from the full 1mg dose.

Before 93, what other options did they have out there for hair loss, just rogaine. Thats exactly where we would be at today. If anything, all the scare mongering of finasteride has left a VAST entrance for others to come and swipe the market with an effective treatment.

They at least should have warned people more about what the drug does, which is suppress essential male hormones. I was actually prescribed propecia by a dermotologist, and he said nothing at all about any side effects, as if he was telling me to take an aspirin.

It's sad that hairloss is not taken seriously by the medical body, whereas it causes more harm to men than all other diseases combined.

It's not simply about DHT, the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme (which finasteride/dutasteride is destroying to lower DHT) is necessary to make other hormones too, some might be even more important than DHT.

An experimental treatment would be to inject yourself those natural hormones and make them bind to the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme to drop your DHT level. It turns out that some of those hormone production drops significantly when you are in a period of high stress, this could explain why some people are losing hair much quicker when they are experiencing stress.

I didn't realise 5AR type 2 had any other roles beyond converting testosterone to DHT. Could you expand upon this please? Genuinely interested.

The best example is progesterone, which as a direct impact on the brain. Inhibition of the 5AR, even with finasteride, will remove the neuroprotective effect of this hormone. You can search "finasteride progesterone" to get various research on the subject on pubmed and such.

I stopped using finasteride after trying two times, I had to find an alternative. I started taking natural oral progesterone, I feel a lot better on this thing, and I already started to see regrowth (it start to make a visible difference) . I take high res pictures every couple of week, I plan on publishing those pictures in the next couple of month to make sure it really helps. On the propecia help forums, progesterone is one of the hottest hormone to take to alleviate post finasteride syndrome. The thing is that, taking progesterone can lead to various effects, it can boost your libido or drop it depending on various factors. You should really check your progesterone level with blood test if you want to start taking it. This is very experimental stuff, this is the most promising stuff I took since stopping finasteride.

So you take natural progesterone?
Is that better than unnatural progesterone?

Yes by far, you should always take the natural bio-identical hormone version, any alternate synthetic version are hazardous and can cause health issue mid-term or long-term. I take natural progesterone dissolved into vitamin E oil, this is the only way I know to make it pass the guts, cream isn't as effective.

how come you dont try taking progesterone cream along with propecia. anecdotal evidence says that it may alleviate any side effect caused from propecia's effect on progesterone.

My guess is that progesterone alleviate sides of finasteride because finasteride steal the 5-alpha reductase enzyme of progesterone, injecting more progesterone while on finasteride will make possible to produce more dihydro-progesterone, as used and needed in the brain. Using progesterone with finasteride would be smart, but progesterone is already doing the finasteride job, which is to steal the 5 alpha reductase enzyme to avoid a high level of DHT.

I'm currently using oral and topical progesterone using the same oil. I'm going to wait a couple of month to see if there is significant regrowth, I already know it helps my hair and as a bonus it gives me more mental clarity :) (well, progesterone is neuroprotective). I might return to finasteride if nothing else work, but for me, finasteride needs to be patched with a lot of stuff because otherwise I experience all the sides.

Another "I can't take finasteride anymore because I got sides, and now I don't want anybody else to benefit from it either" thread. Nothing new hear. Have seen all the charts before. Have read posts from countless online scientists. The potential sides are no longer hidden. We all know what can happen if we decide to use finasteride to treat our hair loss. We all have the choice to take it or to continue to wait for a cure and go bald. It is a shame that guys like this feel the need to come to hair loss forums and talk us out using one of the few treatments that actually work.

For all the guys that are hesitating to treat their hair loss because of threads like this, I will give you one piece of advice. Do you own research and make your own decisions. Question what you read on this and other forums like this. We are all strangers and there are many out there that are not trying to help you. Personally I have seen posters(with absolutely no hair loss) on this and other hair loss forums that do nothing but spread fear to convince us to stop treating our hair loss.
